The Hawaii Premier League (HPL) was successfully launched as Hawaii’s first Twenty20 competition in October. The league is scheduled to hold tournaments twice a year each November and May. The first three teams were comprised of all-star cricket players from Oahu and Maui. The three teams wore different coloured uniforms and were named the Master Batters, Spitting Cobras and Terminators.
The tournament has plans to expand to include mainland cricket teams in 2009 before expanding further to include international teams from Asia and Oceania. The plan is to expand the Hawaii Premier League into an international competition, in a tournament structure beginning in May 2010.
The month-long competition in October featured several close matches and after six matches all three teams were level with two wins and two defeats. The Spitting Cobras and Master Batters made the final by virtue of securing the most bonus points. The final went to the Spitting Cobras who batted first and amassed 160 runs including 99 runs from 47 balls by Mark Berwick. The Master Batters got off to a promising start but were restricted to 127.

Four countries, Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico and the hosts, El Salvador will contest the Easter Cup Twenty20 tournament in San Salvador this weekend. The Easter Cup, so named for the time of year the first edition was played, is contested in the alternate year to the Central American Championship, which also features Panama.
The draw:
December 13: Belize v Mexico, El Salvador v Costa Rica
December 14: Belize v Costa Rica, El Salvador v Mexico

On November 22, the Delicious Dishes sponsored Jamaica All Stars battled K's Tires Guyana Jaguars. After winning the toss and deciding to bat, The Jamaica All Stars could only secure a meager 121 runs all out off 26 overs. The Guyana Jaguars' bowling attack was enhanced by
Beesham Bhagwandash. In what seemed to be a disastrous start for the Jaguars after losing early valuable wickets, their hopes were resurrected by the superb performance of veteran and former member of the police team Terrence Thomas. Final score –Jam .All Stars 121 all out from 26 overs and Guyana Jaguars 122 for 6 off 19.1 overs.
On November 23 , the Atlas Electrical Jam Turk team faced off with last season's champion, the St. Lucian Hitters, sponsored by the TCI Bank. The final score Jam Turk -209 for 8 off 30 overs and St. Lucian Hitters 184 all out off 27 overs.
Guyana Jaguars winning
A comfortable 58 by Carlton Benjamin and an unbeaten 50 not out from Glen Campbell was
enough to propel the Atlas Electrical sponsored Jam Turk team to their second consecutive win when they beat the Masters by 104 runs on Saturday November 29. Final score – Jam Turk-229 for 4 and Masters 125 all out.
The November 30 match was dubbed the game of the season in so far as spectators and players alike had to hold their breath as they watched an exciting competitive game between new comers Seven Stars and the Police in the fifth game of the season. Final score Police 257 for 4 off 30 overs and Seven Stars in reply -231 all out off 27.5 overs. The Police won by 26 runs.

On Sunday November 23, the Chilean Cricket Association organised the first National Under-15’s Trios Tournament, which was held at The Grange School, Santiago.
Eight teams from Santiago, Viña del Mar and Chillán competed throughout the morning in a cup and plate competition, with Viña del Mar taking top honours. In the plate final, Chillán ‘A’ edged Santiago ‘B’ . The day also saw the inaugural Timothy W. Messner Cup as The Regions took
on Santiago at U-15 level in a twenty over encounter.
The Regions batted first and made a patient 79 all out. In reply, a clearly pumped Regional bowling unit bowled as a pack and ran amok with a batting line up that, on paper, should have easily chased down the total. Santiago collapsed for 19 all out.
The cup was named in honour of the ‘Godfather’ of Chilean cricket development and former ICC Volunteer of the Year, Tim Messner, who moves back to his native Australia in early 2009 having set in motion one of South America’s most exciting development programs.

The baord announced that Glenn Blakeney was the latest player to join the BCB's High Performance Programme (HPP). He will join Irving Romaine, Rodney Trott, Tamauri Tucker, Kyle Hodsoll, Oronde Bascome and Christopher Douglas who recently returned from a seven-week start at the Cricket Academy in Brisbane, Australia.

Fiji's annual cricket clinics have begun in Albert Park.
The clinics aim to give children an enjoyable and fun experience and will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until December 19. The fun starts at 9am, with the clinics open to boys and girls of all ages. Attendance is free.
With the support of Pizza Hut, all children who attend the clinics will receive a free Pizza hut lunch to add to the enjoyment.
Australian Test cricket star, Chris Rogers, will be in Fiji today and tomorrow to help the next generation of Fijian cricketers achieve their aims.
