Graham Gooch is set to invest £90,000 in Essex over the next three years. Gooch has announced that he will sponsor the Essex Cricket Academy, and will write a cheque for £30,000 for the first year, a figure which will then be reviewed.

Ant Botha has signed a two-year contract with Warwickshire after turning down an extension with Derbyshire.
"It has been a very difficult decision," Botha said. "At this stage of my career, I feel this is the right move for me and an exciting opportunity that I might not get again."
John Morris, Derbyshire's director of cricket, admitted he was "very disappointed" to lose Botha mid-season but stressed it would give him a chance to "assess players in the remaining matches this year who are going to be a part of Derbyshire's future".

Yorkshire have added Pakistan A legspinner Imran Tahir to their squad for the final stages of the season after Jason Gillespie was called away to an Australian training camp. Tahir joins Inzamam-ul-Haq, who has replaced Younis Khan, and he has previous county experience after a short spell with Middlesex in 2003

The Friends Provident Trophy will be on display at the Riverside this weekend at both of Durhamâ..s Pro40 matches. Durham take on Leicestershire on Sunday, August 26, and then their local rivals Yorkshire on Bank Holiday Monday.
The silverware will be on display in the foyer of the Media Centre from 12.45pm until the end of the lunch interval so spectators can bring their cameras along and take their photo next to Durham's first trophy.
Gates open at 11.45am and play is scheduled to start at 1.45pm. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults when purchased in advance (£15 on the day) and £5 for juniors (£6 on the day). Tickets can be purchased online at www.durhamccc.co.u or by calling the box office on 0870 389 1991.
