The result was cruel on Michael Papps who batted throughout the New Zealand innings for 106 off 130 balls. However, he lacked support from the rest of the line-up, with Chris Harris's 33 the next highest score.

South Africa A's last pair of Thami Tsolekile and Garnett Kruger edged their team to a tense one-wicket win against New Zealand A as they gained the psychological advantage ahead of the final. South Africa were still 29 runs short of their target when Tyron Henderson was the ninth man out, but Tsolekile and Kruger held their nerve.
The match was a close fought encounter from the start as New Zealand recovered from the loss of both openers to the new ball through a stand of 92 between Mathew Sinclair and Peter Fulton, the captain. Loots Bosman broke the stand when he trapped Fulton lbw, then Sinclair became the first of four victims for Jacques Rudolph's legspin.

South Africa A booked their place in the final of the tri-series with a convincing four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka A at Colombo. Jacques Rudolph, with 66, and Justin Ontong's 60 eased the South Africans to a win with 16 balls to spare.
Choosing to bat first, Sri Lanka could only manage 234 for 9 in their 50 overs, as Dale Steyn, Monde Zondeki and Johan van der Wath applied the brakes and never allowed Sri Lanka to get away. A partnership of 50 between Farveez Maharoof (58*) and Gayan Wijekoon (26) ensured they reached a score of reasonable respectability, having at one stage stumbled to 119 for 7.
South Africa's target was reached without considerable alarm, with Rudolph and Ontong both striking fifties in a partnership worth 108. Sajeewa Weerakoon took three of the six wickets to fall, but was treated with disdain by the South Africans and conceded 55 runs from his 10 overs.

Australia A ended their tour of Pakistan on a high by clinching the one-day series with a superb all round performance at Lahore. Phil Jaques cracked a run-a-ball 114, then all the Australian bowlers chipped in to dismiss Pakistan A out for 176, despite Bazid Khan's 95.
However, at the start of the day Australia certainly did not have everything their own way. Pakistan's pace attack of Mohammad Sami, Umar Gul and Mohammad Asif found assistance from the pitch and reduced Australia to 87 for 4 in the 20th over. Shane Watson joined Jaques and the pair added 85 runs to steady the innings in little more than 15 overs.

Shoaib Malik and Bazid Khan, both Test players, put on an unbroken 126-run partnership for the third wicket to allow Pakistan A to post a comfortable eight-wicket win at Lahore and level the three-match series.
Malik scored an 86-ball 103, studded with 12 fours and four sixes, and Bazid, son of Pakistan legend Majid Khan, compiled a composed 51 to steer Pakistan home with nearly 16 overs to spare. Until their arrival, Pakistan A had been in an uncertain position, having lost Ashar Zaidi and Test hopeful, Imran Farhat by the time they reached 82. Zaidi fell leg-before to what appeared to be a no-ball and Farhat threw away what had been a commendably restrained innings of 27 by slashing to gully. However, Malik in particular, rarely looked distressed, working himself in before cutting loose and doing his chances of a Test call-up no harm.
After losing the toss earlier and being asked to bat, Australia A struggled to overcome fine bowling from Mohammad Sami and Umar Gul. At one stage they were reduced to 26 for 4, before Mike Hussey and Cameron White put on 63 for the fifth wicket. But after Hussey was bowled by Gul, only White offered resistance, remaining undefeated on 106 as Australia were bowled out for a disappointing 204.

South Africa A produced another impressive performance as they completed a comfortable six-wicket win against New Zealand A in Colombo. After routing Sri Lanka A by 10 wickets on Wednesday the South Africa bowlers were again on form, constantly chipping away at the New Zealand batting. Andrew Puttick guided South Africa home with a composed 84, in a stand of 99 with Zander de Bruyn.
It was a team effort from the South African with the six bowlers each taking a least a wicket apiece. Dale Steyn, Tyron Henderson and Johann van der Wath troubled the top order and New Zealand couldn't creat a solid foundation to build from. Matthew Sinclair and James Marshall battled hard but Robin Peterson and Johan Botha claimed a brace each to stifle any thoughts of a fightback.
