An unbeaten 111 from Hasan Raza helped Pakistan A to a respectable 249 for 6 after the third day of their four-day game against Australia A in Rawalpindi. Earlier, the Australians, resuming on 318 for 5, declared their first innings on 407 for 8.
Raza's knock bailed Pakistan out after they had slumped to 114 for 4, with Michael Lewis, the right-arm fast bowler, and Dan Cullen, the offspinner, taking two wickets each. Raza hit 15 fours and two sixes in a free-stroking innings which took only159 balls. Apart from Imran Farhat (47), none of the other batsmen offered him much support, though. Cullen ended the day as the most successful bowler for the Australians, taking 3 for 60 from 24 overs.
The Australians had earlier added 89 in just 17 overs in the morning in an attempt to put in Pakistan in quickly and force a result. Shane Watson led the charge, scoring 50 from 71 balls. However, with the second day lost entirely due to rain, a draw is almost a certainty here.

Tillakaratne Dilshan and Thilan Samaraweera scored superb hundreds to rescue Sri Lanka after a dreadful start and take them to a a gargantuan 449 for 7 in the second and final Test at the P Saravanamuttu Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka faced serious embarrassment having slumped to 48 for 4, but Dilshan ran amok in the afternoon and Samaraweera provided intelligent support as the pair seized the initiative with a 280-run stand.
Dilshan, who had a serious injury concern the previous evening after getting hit on the elbow at practice, scored an exhilarating 168 from 179 balls, an innings that included 19 boundaries and a six. It was his highest Test score and his fourth Test hundred. Samaraweera, meanwhile, finished with 138 from 217 balls, his fifth Test hundred
Bangladesh did dismiss both before the close - Dilshan edging a tired square cut and Samaraweera chipping the second new ball straight to midwicket - but to rub salt into Bangladesh's wounds Chaminda Vaas strolled out to bat without a helmet and cracked a quick 61 not out while Muttiah Muralitharan struck some lusty blows during an unbroken 49-run eighth wicket stand.

The South African XI were given the perfect start by Smith and Boeta Dippenaar as they blasted 109 in 14 overs. Dippenaar's 54 was uncharacteristically rapid, coming from 45 balls, and Smith's 79 took only 54 deliveries. Their departures did not slow the scoring rate as Nicky Boje and Neil McKenzie enjoyed themselves as the bowlers were dispatched to all corners of the ground.
Ashwell Prince didn't arrive at the crease until the 29th over and still ended up as top-scorer, his unbeaten 84 ensuring the score took on intimidating proportions. Prince hit eight fours and a six in his confident innings, which will send him into the forthcoming season with his confidence high.

A fine 102 by Salman Butt wasn't enough to win the game for Jacques Kallis Invitational XI, as they went down by three runs against a South Africa XI at Newlands in Cape Town. Requiring 259 for victory, the Kallis XI made a spirited chase, but despite handy contributions from Lance Klusener (44) and Brian Lara (31), they fell marginally short.
Earlier, the South Africa XI racked up 258 after winning the toss, with half-centuries from Graeme Smith, Ashwell Prince and Shaun Pollock. The Kallis XI also included Mfuneko Ngam, the right-arm fast bowler who is attempting a comeback after repeated stress fractures in the legs for the past four years. Ngam was expensive but polished off the tail to finish with 3 for 57 from 7.1 overs. Allan Donald and Mohammad Sami took two wickets each.

Leicestershire's 66-run victory over Somerset booked them a place in tomorrow's finals day. Set 173 to win, Somerset failed to take the attack to Leicestershire's bowlers, and wickets continued to tumble. Only John Francis, with an innings of 49 from 44 balls, threatened to deny Leicestershire a victory; Jeremy Snape and Dinesh Mongia both bowled remarkably tidily, each picking up two wickets. Mongia's figures of 2 for 6 from four overs were particularly impressive. Leicestershire's innings was built around the top four batsman, with Darren Maddy hitting 42 from just 27 balls, and Mongia 39 from 23 balls; Mongia's innings, and his two cheap wickets, earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.

India sweep to innings victory

India romped to victory by an innings and 90 runs and go 1-0 up in the two-match series against Zimbabwe

India duly applied the finishing touches to the first Test on the fourth morning at Bulawayo, wrapping up the four remaining Zimbabwean wickets in slightly less than two hours to romp home to victory by an innings and 90 runs and go 1-0 up in the two-match series. Zimbabwe did stretch their second innings to 185, thanks to two useful partnerships for the seventh and tenth wickets, but that only delayed the inevitable. Harbhajan Singh, freed of the pressure of looking for his 200th scalp, took three of the wickets - all when bowling round the wicket - to take his career tally to 203, while Anil Kumble chipped in with the vital scalp of Tatenda Taibu, who finished as Zimbabwe's top-scorer in both innings.
The morning began encouragingly for Zimbabwe, though, as Andy Blignaut and Taibu dispatched the bowlers to all parts in an enterprising 43-run stand for the seventh wicket. Blignaut had put away all his strokes in the closet in the first innings, labouring to 4 off 33 balls, but with the result of a match not in doubt any longer, he freely launched into his shots: Harbhajan's second ball of the day was spanked through point, and when he returned after brief spells by the seamers, Blignaut celebrated by caressing a four through cover before smoting him past midwicket.
