Sterre Kalis registered an assured half-century as Birmingham beat Somerset by 22 runs at Taunton's Cooper Associates Ground to improve their prospects of qualifying for the knockout stages of the women's Vitality Blast competition.
The Dutch international top-scored with 51 from 41 balls, struck six fours and dominated a profitable stand of 63 in 9.1 overs with Katie George for the fourth wicket as the visitors raised 149 for 8. George contributed 28 and Laura Harris made a brisk 29, while Mollie Robbins returned career-best figures of 4 for 29 to keep Somerset in the hunt.

Half-centuries for Kane Williamson and skipper Leus du Plooy helped Middlesex to a 23-run win over Gloucestershire at Merchant Taylors' School - only their fifth ever victory over the west country men in the Vitality Blast.
Williamson's 50 came in 28 balls with two sixes and six fours while du Plooy produced two maximums of his own, the pair sharing a stand of 92 as the hosts totaled 189 for 5.

BBL champions Hobart Hurricanes started their GSL 2025 campaign with a thumping win over ILT20 winners Dubai Capitals in Providence. Their comfortable seven-wicket win was set up by the 78-run second-wicket stand between Macalister Wright (50) and the captain Ben McDermott (48). Hurricanes chased the target down with 18 balls to spare.
That Hurricanes needed only 142 to win, though, was courtesy their spin bowlers Fabian Allen and Mohammad Nabi. The two finished with identical figures of 4-0-21-3.

Jasprit Bumrah was saved, or he had saved himself, for Lord's. The temptation of the most famous honours board in the world might have had something to do with it, and if so, the plan worked. Bumrah claimed a five-for that helped bowl England out for 387 but he was far from the only fast bowler that set the pulse racing.
Jofra Archer would have spent three years thinking about this moment, being told of the light at the end of the tunnel as he willed himself through the rehab his body needed to shoulder the burden that comes with Test cricket. Three balls into his first over back, the light wasn't hypothetical anymore. His day in the sun had finally come and he was bathed in its glow as he celebrated a wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal was sent back, wondering what he could have done against an 89mph rocket that had squared him up. Karun Nair was greeted by a 93mph missile.

Surrey clinched their place at Finals Day in the inaugural Vitality Blast women's competition by defending a meagre 132 for nine against The Blaze at Trent Bridge, restricting the home side to 122 for 5 to secure a 10-run victory.
They pulled it off despite a bizarre start to The Blaze's pursuit of their 133-run target in which Alice Monaghan had to be removed from the Surrey attack for bowling two full tosses above waist height and 27 were conceded in the opening two overs.

Gareth Roderick led an impressive recovery as the Worcestershire Rapids beat Derbyshire Falcons by 12 runs in the Vitality Blast North Group match at the Central Co-op County Ground.
Roderick scored 71 from 57 balls and shared a stand of 85 from 62 with Ethan Brookes as the Rapids fought back from 10 for 4 to reach 174 for 6 with Zak Chappell taking 3 for 26.

Leicestershire Foxes kept themselves in the race for a quarter-final spot in the Vitality Blast after defeating Northamptonshire Steelbacks by six wickets with 23 balls to spare to go fourth in the North Group, moving ahead of their opponents, who remain in contention despite losing five matches in a row.
Rehan Ahmed was the Foxes' match-winner with an unbeaten 52 off 30 balls after Sol Budinger had hit 40 off 22, pace bowler George Scrimshaw taking three for 33 for the Steelbacks.
