Picturesque ground in a residential area in Sydney's inner western suburbs, Petersham Oval has been home to the Petersham (and later Petersham-Marrickville) club in the Sydney grade competition. Home ground to many notable players such as Tommy Andrews, Sid Barnes, Bill Alley, Johnny Martin and Bob Simpson, Petersham Oval was the scene of eighteen year-old Don Bradman's first appearance in grade cricket in 1926, scoring 110 on debut for St George.

An attractive setting for club cricket during the summer months, the ground is used during winter for baseball, a sport in which Petersham Oval also possesses a long history. The scoreboard was named in 1936 in honour of local Test batsman Tommy Andrews (RE, Mar 2001)
