Janaka Gunaratne

After Under 19 world cup in Sri Lanka 2000 Gunaratne got selected MAX Cricket academy it was the very first cricket academy in Sri Lanka at the same time he scored heavily in under 23 tournament in 2003, Gunaratne got first call for Sri Lanka A team because of his performances in under 23 tournament and select to tour South Africa and Kenya.

After that Gunaratne played many provincial teams in Sri Lanka Gunaratne was the best bowler in provincial T20 tournament and outstanding player in the provincial four day tournaments in 2010 part of the Basnahira South team. His outstanding performance in provincial tournaments Gunaratne recall to A team again in 2010 and he got a century against South Africa in unofficial test, he performed well in batting and bawling in that tour.

A veteran of the Sri Lankan domestic circuit, the Colombo-born Gunaratne has made over 100 first-class appearances. A batting allrounder, he made his first T20 appearance in 2004 for Chilaw Marians. He was one of Ruhuna's heroes in the 2011 Inter-Provincial T20. He top-scored for his side with 83 and picked up 1 for 17 in the big final against Wayamba. He also hit the winning runs in the Super Over that earned Ruhuna a spot in the Champions League T20 in 2011

In 2012 Gunaratne got call up for play Uthura Rudra team in SLPL tournament. Also he is involving with Abahani Limited team in Bangladesh premier league tournament and his professional cricket in UK and scored heavily and consistently for Clithereo Cricket Club. He was broke record of 122 years old hitting six sixes in over in the Ribblesdale Cricket League 2015 season.
