Manan Sharma is an allrounder who bowls left-arm spin and is flexible in the batting order. The son of Ajay Sharma, the former India batsman who was handed a life ban in 2000 for his involvement in match-fixing, Manan's first big break came when he was named in the Under-19 squad for the 2010 World Cup in New Zealand.
Two years later, he made his first-class debut and in due course, established himself as Delhi's main spinner, finishing as the team's leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy in both 2014-15 and 2015-16. Manan picked up 35 wickets from eight games, and along with Pradeep Sangwan, powered Delhi's spirited campaign in 2015-16, where they missed out on a knockout spot by a single point.
He claimed his career-best match haul of 11 for 162 in Delhi's four-wicket win over Haryana, and subsequently did well in the Vijay Hazare domestic 50-over competition and the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. In February 2016, Manan was snapped up by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 10 lakh at the IPL auction.
