Within a year of taking up the game, Nelly Williams was playing cricket at international level, as West Indies faced a touring Lancashire side in 2000. This was also the same season she played her first match for Trinidad and Tobago; a stellar year indeed for Williams, a right-hand opening bat and right-arm medium pace bowler. And her star continued in the ascendancy, as she toured India and Pakistan in 2004 and participated in West Indies' World Cup qualifiers in Holland. A stint in England, where she played for Lancashire and Sheffield United, bolstered her experience and her batting will be a real threat when West Indies play in the World Cup in South Africa in March and April, 2005.
