A right-hand batsman who also bowled offspin, Tony Rimell captained Charterhouse and then forced his way into a Cambridge side where he batted at No. 5 behind four batsmen who had played for England by the time they finished university. His best game was against Worcestershire in 1949 when he made 160 and 72 and also took 4 for 49 in 31 overs. He also played twice for Hampshire.
