Hurricanes also confirm that Nat Sciver-Brunt is their pre-signing ahead of the WBBL draft. That is a big get after Lizelle Lee was classed as a local player for Hurricanes following the approval of her Australian residency in 2024.
2
Huge news ahead of the WBBL draft in a few moments time. Hayley Matthews, Renegades pre-signing and title-winning WBBL final MVP from last season, is out of the WBBL due to shoulder surgery. That could cause chaos in the first round as Renegades have to rethink their strategy at short notice.

Adelaide Strikers: Luke Wood, Jamie Overton, Hasan Ali
Brisbane Heat: Shaheen Shah Afridi, Colin Munro, Tom Alsop
Hobart Hurricanes: Chris Jordan, Rishad Hossain, Rehan Ahmed
Melbourne Renegades: Mohammad Rizwan, Hassan Khan, Tim Seifert
Melbourne Stars: Haris Rauf, Tom Curran, Joe Clarke
Perth Scorchers: Finn Allen, Laurie Evans, David Payne
Sydney Sixers: Sam Curran, Babar Azam, Jafer Chohan
Sydney Thunder: Lockie Ferguson, Shadab Khan, Sam Billings
Some decent names have missed out including Jofra Archer, James Anderson, Zak Crawley, Liam Livingstone, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy and Reece Topley from England, Tim Southee and Kane Williamson from New Zealand, Sri Lanka's Kusal Perera, West Indies' Shamar Joseph and Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman. But many of those did not have full availability for the entire due to the ILT20 or international cricket. BBL clubs value full availability more than a lot of other competitions.

There are a heap of big names in the BBL nominations list and it has been dominated by Pakistan players given they will have full availability for the entire BBL. Shaheen Shah Afridi had nominated for the first time and almost every club would love to have him. Mohammad Rizwan is another in the mix. Babar Azam has already signed with Sydney Sixers. There's plenty of of name England players as well including Jofra Archer and James Anderson. Who will go number one? Brisbane Heat have the first pick shortly.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the BBL and WBBL drafts ahead of the 2025-26 season. Over the next few hours the clubs will fill their overseas slots. Each club in both drafts needs to sign at least two players this afternoon and also allocate their pre-draft signings to a round. More details on how it all works can be found here. It all gets underway with the BBL draft at 4pm AEST, followed straight after by the WBBL.
And here's a reminder of the order for the BBL draft.
