A Harrow-educated middle-order batsman who has been part of the Middlesex system since the age of 10, Robbie White had to bide his time before first-team opportunities arrived. He was part of a golden generation for Loughborough MCCU, playing alongside Sam Cook, James Bracey, Hassan Azad and Michael Burgess which studying for a psychology degree, and made his first first-class appearances for them, including a maiden fifty against Northants in 2017.

He struggled to make much of an impression in his early chances in the Middlesex side during a difficult period for the club, and runs were hard to come by during an emergency loan period at Essex in early 2019 after an availability crisis among their wicketkeepers. But he made 99 at Canterbury in the Bob Willis Trophy the following summer to earn a contract extension and started the 2021 season in good form in the middle order.
