UAE dominant after trio hit centuries

Kenya 219 and 76 for 4 (Obuya 32*, Jesani0*) need another 356 to beat UAE 213 and 439 (Saqib 153, Amjad 100, Khurram 113)

UAE are in with an excellent chance of completing a turnaround at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi. They had conceded a first-innings lead against Kenya, but three centuries in the second innings has put them in complete control of their Intercontinental Cup match.

They were 155 for 3 at stumps on the second day, and were dominant on the third, extending their lead to 433 and leaving Kenya in trouble in the chase. Saqib Ali and Amjad Javed, the overnight batsmen, continued from where they left the previous day, scoring 153 and 100 respectively. The stand was worth 190, and there was more to come. Captain Khurram Khan put the match beyond Kenya, scoring a fluent 113, striking 11 fours and two sixes; his knock included a stand of 141 with Saqib. The agony didn't end there for Kenya, as No.9 batsman Mohammad Tauqir made an unbeaten 38 with Khurram at the other end before the innings was declared.

Amjad and Tauqir played a part in putting Kenya under pressure in the chase. Amjad dismissed opener Runish Gudhka while Tauqir dislodged Tanmay Mishra. Captain Collins Obuya held fort at one end with an unbeaten 32, but at 76 for 4 in a chase of 434, UAE finished day three as firm favourites.
