Pollard late salvo downs Zouks

Barbados Tridents 168 for 7 (Holder 48, Pollard 37*, Jordan 3-39) beat St Lucia Zouks 167 for 7 (Tanvir 50*, Charles 50) by three wickets
Scorecard and ball-by-ball details

Kieron Pollard's timely return to form helped Barbados Tridents register their fourth win while keeping St Lucia Zouks winless in a tightly-fought match in Gros Islet.

Sixty-four runs were required in 44 balls when No. 7 Pollard arrived at the crease, but given his poor run of scores - his highest in previous 15 T20 innings was 21 - Zouks were slightly ahead. Sohail Tanvir bowled a miserly 16th over giving away just two runs to turn the equation further in Zouks' favour. Forty-seven were required off the last four overs. Pollard managed to pick two sixes in two overs bowled by Ray Jordan, Zouks' most-successful bowler on the day, to bring Tridents 15 away from the target at the start of the 20th over.

The first ball from Tanvir was a wide down the leg side but the next was pulled over the boundary by Pollard. The next could have turned the match again as three men at deep cover converged under a skier, but a drop resulted in two runs. The fourth ball was slogged through midwicket for a boundary to spark charged celebrations from Pollard, unbeaten on 37 off 22.

The foundation of the chase was laid by another enterprising innings. Fast bowler Jason Holder was promoted to No. 3 for the second time in his T20 career and responded with a 30-ball 48 that included five fours and two sixes. Forty of those runs came in the Powerplay which saw Tridents score 66. It was an ideal start in the chase of 168 and although Jordan's two wickets in his third over gave Zouks hope of their first win, Pollard's calm innings ensured their wait would continue.

Zouks had been lifted by fifties from Johnson Charles and Tanvir after a troubled start. They were 14 for 3 in the second over. Charles added 74 for the fourth wicket with Liam Sebastien before being dismissed by Shoaib Malik in the 14th over. But it was Tanvir's blitz that surprised Tridents. He hit six sixes - three of them in the 20th over, bowled by Pollard - to reach 50 off 19 and lift the total by 34 runs in the last two overs.

Tridents' win meant that Hawksbills were out of the race for the play-offs.
