dropped at mid-off. Could have added to the drama. It was full, drilled hard to Kulasekara, who grabbed at it, bobbled out as they complete the run. Looked like Kula was confused for a split second, went Aussie style and burst out of his hand to nearly hit him on the face
Sri Lanka vs Pakistan, 10th Match at Dhaka, Mar 04 2016 - Ball by Ball Commentary
That brings us to the end of our coverage. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did bringing it to you. Do join us for the grand finale on Sunday. It's Bangladesh against India. Sher-e-Bangla will be buzzing, and it should hopefully be a cracker. Until then, it's goodbye and goodnight from all of us at the commentary desk. Cheers!
Shahid Afridi: We're good cricketers, just that we need to have more self-belief. That's what helped us in the chase today. We wanted to keep wickets intact in the first six overs and it worked. We've backed players, we didn't want to tamper with too many things, but the selectors have done well to give everyone a sincere opportunity. We had to change a few things, we worked hard and it helped. I don't fall down easily, yes, it was tough but I'm confident the boys can deliver.
Umar Akmal is the Man of the Match for his 48. "Credit to the captain, coaching staff and team management. Waqar showed me a motivational video before the match. That fired me up. We wanted to sign off with a win, good to see some rhythm to our game before the World T20."
Dinesh Chandimal: Overall we played some good cricket. We were 10-15 short with the bat, that was the turning point in this game. It was difficult to grip the ball with this dew. Injuries are the main issues, we haven't been able to get the best combination as a result. Hopefully players will recover in time.
Sanga says it as it is
Disappointing to get only 150 after the start we got. Time now to take stock and reassess our squad to ensure the right combo for the t20 WC

10:45pm That should come as some relief for Afridi, Waqar & co, for this has been an otherwise disappointing Asia Cup campaign. The scorecard may say Pakistan won with just four balls to spare, but they were never really challenged in the chase. Umar Akmal piloted the chase after that turbo start by Sharjeel. Sarfraz did what Sarfraz normally does, working the ball into the gaps and mixing his fineness with his street smart ways to eat into the target. All in all, a clinical effort
Sri Lanka would wonder where they lost this. Not much doubt, really. 14 overs - 110 without loss. Next six overs, they made just 40. Once Pakistan went into the break with momentum by their side, they didn't look back. But the form of Dilshan would come as a silver lining
full and dead straight on off, defended
outstanding, simply wow. This was a flat hit over the infield, Thisara, at wide long-off, started running almost as soon as Akmal made contact, it was a flat hit and Thisara simply threw his hands up as he moved to his right, did well to hold on even as the momentum threatened to knock him back. He slid over, showed excellent balance. Superb athleticism.
that would have cleared any boundary in the world. Full, he set himself up nicely, clean bat swing and boom. What power!
right into the blockhole again, gets it down to long on
gets a thick inside edge as long on swoops in
excellent yorker, jams his bat down in time to keep that out
floats it full on middle, worked towards deep midwicket
slower one outside off, guides it to point
full toss, a high one at that, picked the gap well enough, there was a fielder there but he had to dive across the turf to pull it back in, unfortunately it wasn't a full-blooded effort
lofted over cover but his heart would have been in his mouth, falls in no man's land. It was the slower one, the bat face turned in his hand as he made contact
sandyk: "Looks like Pakistan were beaten by their emotions/attitude in the previous games. Against India, they were overwhelmed by the big game mindset and against bangladesh they expected it to be too easy which was not to be. Here, they are playing to their strengths without any prejudice."
crunched but straight to cover
beaten by the legcutter, bounces in front of Dickwella who fails to collect it cleanly, deflects it into the third man bouncer. Misread the bounce completely, didn't get his body behind the ball either
flirting with that wide line, Akmal backed away to carve it over point, missed. Touch harsh, line call
width on offer, he backs away and then reaches out for it, toe-ends it to sweeper cover
gets back and defends
Imtiaz pathan: "I am in a spot of bother folks, whenever i swear not to watch any more pakistan, the next day they perform like champions and then again entice me. Just opened cricinfo tab and found Pakistan in a commanding position, could not believe it, am I dreaming??" No, it's for real. Pinch yourself if in doubt
yorker length outside off, squeezed to long-on
whipped to deep square
doesn't get the elevation he hoped for, flat hit, one bounce to long-on
FJ and Ahmad: "My 9 year old son, Ahmad, thinks that Umar Akmal loses his cool when he is under pressure due to failure of top three batsmen. Today, when the walking wicket of Khurram Manzoor was "rested", the result was refreshingly good. Good that the experiment of Khurram didn't ruin Pakistan's T20 WC."
too full on the pads, flicked to deep midwicket
beautiful shot. Slower and fuller outside off, he waits and waits and then lofts it cleanly over extra cover
