Onto the roof to end it! Launched over long on! Low full toss on off, David uses the bottom hand and flushes it way back over long on.
Thunder vs Hurricanes, 42nd Match at Hobart, BBL, Jan 15 2023 - Match Result
Hurricanes won by 5 wickets (with 23 balls remaining)
Thanks for your company. Stay tuned for tonight's blockbuster between the BBL's two best teams, Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers from the SCG. Bye for now.
Nathan Ellis is player of the match for his 4 for 27 including a hat-trick.
Tim David: "I think that might be the most balls I've ever batted. It was nice to spend a bit of time out there. [On going in early] I was just trying to get in. Wadey is a really good powerplay batter. I don't bat up there in the powerplay very often. It gave me the chance to just absorb a little bit of pressure and then once we got in it felt a little bit easier. [On the Wade-Green stoush] Obviously we know Wadey loves getting into the contest and being a bit feisty. Greeny was winding him up. They were suggesting there was going to be another run out. I was there trying to diffuse it but they were going at each other a little bit. it was pretty friendly to be honest."
4.48pm Hurricanes win by five wickets with 23 balls to spare.
That was a clinic from Tim David. He walked in during the powerplay and posts his highest BBL score making 76 not out with six sixes. Exceptional power-hitting and composure under pressure. Matt Wade played an important support role with 30 off 22. Daniel Sams had a lone hand with the ball taking 4 for 18 off 4 with 16 dots. No other Thunder bowler took a wicket. They didn't score enough runs. Handshakes between the two teams end well after some testy moments during the Hurricanes chase. Wade and Chris Green appear to have sorted things out with a more amicable discussion than their one earlier.
McAndrew back on
full on middle, 106kph, he drives to long on with ease
backs away early, Green follows and cramps him, he mistimes it back to the bowler
Joshua: "Hurricanes are looking like they'd do a decent job at both elevating their NRR and lowering a rivals (this game more important than Stars)"
full on off, he drives to long on
shorter length on leg, 100kph, he nearly slips as he mistimes a pull along the ground to deep square

full on off, he drives back to the bowler

short down leg, he pulls off the sticker to fine leg
low full toss on middle, he whips it with power along the deck to deep midwicket
sliced up and over backward point! Full and wide, he opens the face and slices it deliberately over backward point and it runs away to the rope
full outside off, he opens the face nicely and guides it behind point to the gap for two
Sam: "Hopefully this game doesn't go down the road like the last one for Hurricanes. They have started losing wickets and if Tim gets out now Panic might set in. And again an opportunity to improve the much needed run rate may go begging for Hurricanes."
yorker on middle, he jams this out but it's well timed to long on
full toss, he drives to long off
Rose: "Timmy David is something else... how did it take so long to get him in the Aussie setup?"
