This time he nails the swat over cow corner. Short ball that didn't rise as much, and he connects superbly. Fittingly the winning hit comes off a six by Russell. Dominating win by Dhaka Dynamites
Sylhet vs Dynamites, 19th Match at Sylhet, BPL 2019, Jan 18 2019 - Match Result
Dynamites won by 6 wickets (with 18 balls remaining)
That's all we have for you from this match folks. Stick around for the second BPL game for today.
5.42pm Post match presentations:
David Warner: I thought 160 was about par, so very disappointing. But fantastic innings by Shakib Al Hasan. You don't see too many teams winning after being three down in the Powerplay. Shakib backed his strengths. Little bit disappointing, but we've got to forget that and come back tomorrow. My elbow's a bit sore, but it's holding up. I've got one more game, and unfortunately I've to go back. But hopefully I can sort it and come back.
Shakib al Hasan is the man of the match. "I thought the wicket got better in the second half. I thought we could have bowled better than we did. They were less than 100 and five down, with no specialist batsmen except David Warner, but still they got almost 160. But no complaints with our batting. We are doing most things alright, but fine-tuning will help us perform better. The latter part of the tournament is more crucial. It's a long tournament. We know what Russell is capable of, and we had the trust in him.Today is the first time he hit the ball off the middle of the bat, so it's a good sign."
5.30pm Dhaka bowled very well to keep Sylhet to a below par total. David Warner was immense for his team, dragging them to a total that allowed his bowlers something to bowl at. They responded too, taking three quick wickets. But Dhaka had kept their big guns back. Shakib took charge of the chase with a dominating display, and when it was time for Russell to walk in, he had just enough runs to play with to flex his muscles for his trademark sixes. "I've been struggling the last couple of games, but I decided tonight I'll just back myself. Being positive is my thing. I think Shakib played very, very well tonight."
back to the short stuff. And Russell backs away again. This time he tries to upper cut it over the keeper but misses
Irfan tried to double-bluff Russell by pitching this full, almost yorker length. But he's not hanging back on his back foot and caught on the crease, he just backs away and lifts this over long-off for another six
quick bouncer that time, Russell stepped away again for another mow. But had to duck with the ball homing in on his head
good ball, slowed it up and going across the batsman. He swings and misses, but the keeper misses too, so it's a bye
he's got him caught off a short ball but it's a no-ball Irfan's short ball have come on quicker and gotten big on batsmen. Works on Russell too, whose swipe results in a top edge that's caught easily by mid-on. But it's a no-ball so it'll be a free hit. No-ball because only 3 fielders were in the circle
We have a strategy break. Quick, come up with strategies for what to do when Shakib and Russell are firing and 11 are needed off 24.
slower ball, Russell tries to steer too early, gets a faint tickle on it. Bounces in front of keeper to go past him
good comeback by Taskin with a quick bouncer. There go the fantasies of Russell finishing things in this over with four straight sixes. On leg stump and rises up to the helmet. Russell had cleared his front leg to swipe again, but had to duck while trying to pull
length ball on the stumps, and Russell just smashes the leather off it. Clears his leg again and pulls fiercely. Very fiercely. It's gone like a rocket over square leg. At least the ball is not lost this time
They need a new ball. It would make for an interesting trivia question to know how many times Russell has forced a new ball to come out
that's got air miles on it too full on the stumps, Russell clear his leg and swings. The ball goes off the meat of the bat and might have surprised some birds, if any were looking on over cow corner
too full, and driven crisply through cover. There is a sweeper back though
too short around the wicket, he's clubbed it with a horizontal bat, but there is a long-on, so it's only one run

fuller on leg, wristed to long-on
whoa, Russell's power full toss outside off, and he punch-drives it. So powerfully that it screams across the turf and beats the man running around from deep cover to crash into the fence
too short and on leg, Shakib swivels and pulls. He's missed out there, only a single to deep fine, could have got it finer and got a boundary. Freebie
very full on off, driven with a straight bat to long-off. Russell held the pose for a second before setting off for a comfortable run
digs it in short and gets it rising up to his face, but he does well to swivel back and pull it to deep square leg
bad ball, length one on leg stump. Tries to tickle it fine and doesn't connect but that doesn't matter, because it's taken the pad and gone to the fine leg fence anyway.
38 needed off 36
another big swing to a tossed up ball, doesn't connect
