Hampshire vs S Stallions, Qualifying Pool 1 at Johannesburg, Oct 11 2012 - Ball by Ball Commentary
S Stallions won by 6 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)
8.30 pm Hampshire fell short of a par score after they lost Maxwell and Afridi off successive deliveries and they scored only 31 runs in their last five overs. Haris Sohail anchored the chase and Sialkot achieved their target pretty comfortably. The result counts for little though. Neither of these teams are going into the main draw of the Champions League because they both lost to Auckland Aces. Yorkshire are the other team to have qualified.
Faisal: "It seems that if Shoaib Mailk had opted to field in the first match then Sialkot might have qualified for the actual tournament."
Post match presentation coming up ...
Jimmy Adams: "The guys have found it a bit tough, the batters found it hard to get the runs on the board ... the conditions have done a little more than we though. Its a shame [that counties wont play the CLT20 in the future] but it's out of my hands. We just chug along and play cricket."
Shoaib Malik: "At least we are taking something home. Very pleased with the way we played together. Still struggling in our bowling but our batsmen played well. It wasn't that easy. We came only four five days back but I felt we adapted well."
Haris Sohail is the Man of the Match for his half-century. "He's a brilliant player, he's played many important innings in domestic cricket and he's a good prospect for Pakistan," says Malik.
So the qualifying stage of the Champions League T20 has come to an end. Auckland and Yorkshire are the teams that will go through to the main round. the real thing begins day after tomorrow. See you then.
