What an enthralling contest! Pitched up on fifth stump line and there is enough room for him to open the face of the blade and calmly pat it to short cover, heads down the pitch for a quick single and gets his team over the line, came down to fine margins but what a game of cricket!
KnightRiders vs Warriorz, 25th Match at Abu Dhabi, ILT20, Dec 22 2025 - Match Result
Warriorz won by 4 wickets (with 0 balls remaining)
That's all she wrote for tonight. This is Rvel Zahid signing off on behalf of our team at ESPNcricinfo. Take care and goodnight!
Phew! T20 cricket at its best; ebbing and flowing and keeping our interest right till the end. Couldn't just put a finger on any team in this low-scoring humdinger at the business end of this riveting tournament. Rew's 42 made the difference in the end and the Warriorz managed to eke out a win. A bit more discipline from ADKR towards the end could have changed the complexion of the game but those unforced errors proved too costly in the final moments.
Jason Holder, Knight Riders Captain: It wasn't enough runs...credit to the bowlers though, they did a hell of a job to stretch that game. We needed a few things to go in our favor, keeping wickets in the powerplay would have been key. Narine's spell was crucial -- if he squeezed in a few more (wickets), that could have swung the momentum in our favor. Needed a few things to go our way. We've got to do better, we obviously let ourselves down in this campaign. Sure, we will have a few discussions on how to do better.
Sikandar Raza, Sharjah Warriors Captain: In the end they got a lot more runs, credit to how they made a game out of it. In the end, too close for comfort, but we'll take it. Adil has been that workhorse for us; he has bowled at (all stages of the game). That last over from Adil was far too crucial -- credit to Adil. When Adil came on to bat, I was sure he would score the winning runs (given how he set up the game with his bowling earlier). Adil was everywhere today, it was nice for him to finish the game.
Adil Rashid, Player of the Match: It was quite nice to go for few runs. Bowling the 18th and 20th, it can easily go the other way, but it went my way. I have played against Jason (and Russell) for a long time -- sometimes that helps a lot. They are world-beaters but thankfully it worked in my way. Ideally, we didn't want it to go that deep, but I think Rew played an exceptional knock. We've got two big games, the next one is a big one. We have to be adaptable, and if we bring our A-game, we will win it.
Overmatched wide of off, opens the face and drives it out to wide mid-off, only a single. It has come down to the final delivery, somebody in the comments asked for a low-scoring thriller, you got your wish
Bowls it shortish and outside leg-stump, saw him sashaying across his stumps and tries to adjust, overcooked it and now he has given an extra run and a delivery. 2 off 2 required
Bowls a cunning slower tennis ball bumper and bewilders him, wanted to drag it across the line and does not connect
pitched a low full-toss wide of off, thrashes it along the carpet to deep backward point for a couple of runs
Super Over, anyone?
Hits a fuller-length, almost a Yorker, opens the face and nurdles it out to deep point. Oh, no! He oversteps and that could be it. A cardinal sin at this stage of the game
Good length and angled wide of off, forced to mid-off, only a single
The pendulum swing again! Over the wicket, fuller and angled across off, he read it so early, shuffled across and ramps it away fine of AJ to earn a boundary, that will calm the nerves
Connects this time and perishes in the process! Pace-off shortish delivery outside off, tries to break the jail and larrups it straight to the man at mid-off, now then 12 needed off 6. All credit to ADKR captain for bowling a heck of an over
That is sensational, bringing all his experience to the fore, slower rising ball meandering outside off, tries to flay an upper-cut and is unable to lay bat on it
Around and landed on a length or thereabouts, straightening down the line middle and off, solid back-foot punch to the bowler and tenses faces in the Warriorz dug-out, Sikandar cannot see it anymore
This time he connects on the pace-off shorter ball wide of off, lifts it out to deep midwicket, fell short of Rutherford
That's a good start, two dots in a row, another wide yorker and he just stands there like a spectator and doesn't have a go at it
Around the wicket, back of the hand slower one inside the marker by a few inches, tries to slice and doesn't connect
Pace-off good length delivery on leg-stump, he had generate all the power and ends up flicking it straight to the man at deep backward square, ball deviated from leg-stump, Rutherford takes a nifty catch charging in from the rope
high full-toss at off, charges and clubs it out to deep cover-point, Stone dives to prevent a four
Full and slanting away towards fifth stump line, opens the face to whisk it away and does not connect
That will do nicely for Warriorz to get way ahead in the game, spotted the slower one from a mile and skipped down the surface for a majestic straight six over long-off, lots of power behind that shot! brings down the equation to run a ball
Lands it full and just outside off, opens the face and stabs it out into the covers, was in the air for a while
Raza chips the slower leg-cutter on a length outside off towards midwicket, only a single. Raza has been in these situations many times so he knows how to get his team over the line, key man for Warriors
