Cobras scrape through, the centurion's effort is in vain, he needed to slam this full toss off his pads for a boundary, swung hard, it only scurried past the keeper on leg off the edge, short third man ran after it, Tridents could have won had they run three as they had hit more boundaries, but no chance of taking a third as the ball had just gone to the edge of the inner circle
Tridents vs Cape Cobras, 12th Match, Group B at Mohali, Sep 26 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Match tied (Cape Cobras won the one-over eliminator)
That is all from this match, and it is almost time for Kings XI Punjab v Northern Knights.
Engelbrecht is the Man of the Match. Engelbrecht: "First one (Super Over) I have been involved in and first one I have bowled. I am not going to lie. It was a little bit of a surprise (to be given the Super Over), but the ball was coming out well, and I had a bit of confidence and I was ready to take on the challenge. You try and change and adapt. I try and have plans but it is hard to figure out how every ball is going to go. (Pace to bowl at) is very important for a spinner. Robbie (Peterson) spoke about the pace, he also tried to calm me down as did the other senior players. I am not very calm normally. Credit to Robbie."
Vilas, standing in for Ontong, who hurt himself on the field. Vilas: "We were relieved (to tie it). Unlucky that the high full toss did not go for four. Luckily we came out on top in the Super Over. We had some cool heads there, guys who had lots of international experience. We had a little chat. We thought that spin was useful here, we struggled against it when we were batting. Engelbrecht came out on top."
Emrit: "Thirteen runs in the last over, I back myself to bowl. Unfortunately last ball, the keeper could not collect properly. It was either myself or Ravi (for the Super Over) but he said he wanted it. He is the senior player, had bowled a good 19th over and we backed him. We were actually looking to get 11 (in the Super Over), we had hit more boundaries and would have won the game. It is depressing, two close games, but T20 cricket, anything happens."
Amla: "The run rate was going up, Mendis was bowling well and a few of us got out. The guys were pretty calm. In T20, ten an over is not out of reach. When we needed 13 in the last, we knew we could get close, and we could sense it could be a Super Over. Not sure who eventually made the call (for Engelbrecht), brave call, not many times you get a spinner bowling the Super Over. He has been a revelation for us last two games."
He made an unbeaten 19 off 10 to force the Super Over, and then bowled Cobras to a win with his slow offbreaks. What a match for Sybrand Engelbrecht.
much fuller outside off, he heaves it high over extra cover, and it falls in front of the sweeper running across
that could have been game over, but Cobras stay in it as Munaweera holes out on the pull to deep square leg, slow and short, all the time to mow it over the boundary, but Munaweera found the fielder
he tosses it up now, Carter comes out and flays it down to long off
short and sitting up outside off, Carter swivels and cracks it one bounce into the straight boundary
slow and straightish outside off, Munaweera reaches out and slogs a mishit down to long on
Rampaul keeps it full down the leg side as Levi bends to have a swipe at it, can only hit it to deep square leg and Tridents need 12 to win this. Not a bad couple of overs from Rampaul, the 19th, and now the Super Over
pitched up, but not as full as the previous ones, Vilas whips it off the stumps, straight to fine leg
sees him making room outside leg yet again and follows him with a full ball, Vilas can only squeeze it between his legs behind square
Rampaul responds with a yorker on the stumps, Vilas had backed away to leg, and gets some bat on it, towards fine leg
full and outside leg again, but Vilas has set himself up to loft it over midwicket with a straight followthrough, cleared front leg to get the swing going, beats long on comfortably
full and swinging into the pad, Levi tries to whip it away, misses
