has he hit that well? No. It's all over. The ball was swirling high and handsome, but Ojha didn't quite find the middle and Abhinav Mukund, running in from long-on, kept his eyes on the ball against the fluffy white clouds as backdrop and managed to take it quite comfortably in the end.
India Red vs India Green, at Greater Noida, Aug 23 2016 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Thanks for joining us today. Gautam Gambhir's India Blue take on Yuvraj's India Red on August 29. Hope to see you then. Cheers!
Time for the presentation
Abhinav Mukund is the Player of the Match for his knocks of 77 and 169. "I was getting into good positions. I've been training well back home, especially batting under lights. That experience helped me here. I think a lot of people had issues sighting the ball, but I didn't have any issues with visibility. The wicket was damp, that's perhaps why so many wickets fell on the first day. I worked hard during the off season. I got leaner and stronger. I worked on my batting as well. I want to carry it through. Hopefully this season marks a turnaround for me.
Yuvraj Singh: Nathu bowled a superb spell to bring us back. Abhinav and Chatterjee's partnership gave us control. I thought the way the ball was moving, 161 in the first innings was a decent score. We wanted to restrict them to below 200. I thought the pink ball moved a bit more than the SG ball. It was pretty exciting, the pink ball doesn't go old. It was coming onto the bat nicely.
Suresh Raina: Credit to Kuldeep Yadav for bowling superbly. The pink ball experience was good. I was discussing with Yuvi pa as well, the more we play, the better we'll get at it. Thank the crowd for coming out and supporting us.
2.30pm So it's taken just a little over 45 minutes for India Red to pick up the three remaining wickets. It was always going to be Raina between them and victory. While he entertained for a while with some scintillating strokes, particularly off Kuldeep, there was a lingering feeling that he was one rash shot away from being dismissed. It turned out to be exactly that way as he holed out to long-off. So the margin of victory then? 219 runs.
It started with Abhinav's tough runs in the first innings on a day in which 17 wickets fell. Nathu Singh then came into his own to pick up six wickets in the first innings. At the end of two innings, this game was on an even keel. Abhinav drove the game forward with a magnificent century. His partnership with Sudip Chatterjee gave India Red a platform from where they could pitch for 450-plus lead, which they eventually got before Kuldeep ran through India Green. The only semblance of resistance came at the top when Robin Uthappa and Parthiv Patel played a few sparkling strokes. Twin failures for Yuvraj in victory, but he'll have another crack in a week's time. Join us shortly for the post-match honours
tossed up on middle, Ojha goes north, ball moves west. Attempted slog over long-on goes towards midwicket
soft, soft dismissal. Failed encore. Kuldeep floats it in on the leg stump as he backs away outside leg. Instead of going for another full-blooded lofted strike, Raina simply chips it to mid-off. Nathu hangs onto the catch. No ton for Raina. India Red one away from triumph
Raina sees some flight, races down the track, meets the pitch and launches it over long-off for six
Kuldeep pulls his length back, defended
flatter and faster, played back to Kuldeep
gives this more air on middle, drilled ram-rod straight, so much so it strikes the stumps at the bowler's end. Ojha would have been gone had Kuldeep got a finger-tip to it
looped up on middle, no turn, driven to long-off, Raina farms the strike
lofted over mid-on, not entirely off the middle but it doesn't matter
flatter one that drifts back into middle from around the wicker, Ojha shuffles across to turn it to midwicket. Would have been a dead duck had he missed that
yorker on middle, Ojha just about manages to get some bat on that one
gets a thick inside edge on an attempted drive, rolls back to the bowler
appeal for lbw but the impact was outside off. Also, Ojha got a thin inside edge as he pushed forward
pushes it with hard hands, just short of the cover fielder
Time for Wakhare's offspin
outstanding stroke. Raina saw there was an opportunity to get a boundary, and took it with both hands. Stepped out and moved to the leg side before unfurling his wrists to drill that between cover and mid-off. Class written all over it
Field comes in
gets underneath the flight and blocks
skids on after pitching outside off, Raina defends from the crease
too short and outside off, left alone
stretches forward and pats it back to the bowler
beaten by sharp turn as he looks to walk across and play a delicate dab past short third man
