Bermuda 7 for 0 trail Cayman Islands 197 (Steve Gordon 65, Dwayne Leverock 5-56 by 190 runs)
Dwayne Leverock, Bermuda's imposing bowler, turned in an impressive performance of 5 for 56 and was instrumental in dismissing the Cayman Islands for 197 after the openers had got them off to a good start.
The Cayman Islands, participating in their first Intercontinental Cup, started well with Steve Gordon and Ainsley Hall putting on 62 for the first wicket. Gordon's fluent innings of 62 was interrupted because he had to retire hurt on 50. He returned after the fall of the fourth wicket but was dismissed after adding just 12 runs to his total.
Ryan Powell, the Cayman Islands captain, tried to take his team to a respectable total with an innings of 31 not out which included two sixes, and Pearson Best made a fighting 30 before he was accounted for by Leverock.
Rain interrupted play when the Cayman Islands were on 167 for 7 and when play resumed, Leverock wrapped up the tail. His bowling was the highlight of the day and he was ably supported by Hasan Durham who finished with 3-56.
Bermuda finished the day on 7 for 0 after rain halted play for the second time in the day. Play will start 30 minutes earlier on the second day to make up for lost time.
