So Bangladesh seal the deal amidst the gloom. They have successfully knocked India out of a berth in the Super Eights courtesy a seven-wicket win. Bermuda played with a lot of spirit and enthusiasm but it just seemed to drop when Saqibul and Ashraful strung together a partnership. Theypaid the price for some wayward bowling, conceding 13 wides and three no-balls.
Bangladesh deserve all credit for the level of maturity they've shown in both their victories. Ashraful and Saqibul tempered their aggession and steered their side home with some intelligent running. Their ground fielding too played a part in their victory, completing an allround performance. Following their win over India, the other teams in the Super Eights better watch out.
Ashraful is the man of the match for his unbeaten 29 under pressure. In his speech, he said that the wicket was a difficult one to bat on.
For all you Bangladesh supporters there, celebrate! You deserve it after all these years. I enjoyed bringing this stop-start game to you. Thanks for all your mails. We look forward to your company for the Super Eights, which starts in two days time between West Indies and Australia. Till then, this is Kanishkaa Balachandran signing off. Cheers!
