thats all she wrote. Takes a flatter delivery outside off and tonks it down the throat of long-off
Namibia vs P.N.G., 37th Match, Group A at Dublin, Jul 18 2015 - Ball by Ball Commentary
If a batsman comes hard at the top, its difficult to stop him, says Scholtz, the Namibia captain. Thats what happened to our batting innings. And Im happy that our bowlers did a lot better. We talked that if the ball was full or short, we told them to go for it. You can see the boys, theyre all pretty big and strong. Well batted for Baard. He set it up and it was a team performance. Bernard bowled really well as well, hit the rough and put the batsmen in a tangle.
Namibia was the better side today says Vare, captain of PNG. We didnt execute our plans properly. But credit to Baard for going on and making a big total. We wanted to keep it simple, the wicket was used a lot and we wanted to hit the deck hard and try and bowl good areas. But it didnt go according to plan. There were a lot of positives in the game, dont want to see the negatives. We fielded well. We want to take that into the next game
Bernad Scholtz gets the Man of the Match award for his 4 for 11. He says the amount of runs on the board made the bowling easier. We are very satisfied with our batsmen and we always thought we had a good chance. I made it quite slow, that was the plan. They had to hit it, and that made it quite hard for the batsman. Performances like this, and doing it with so much at stake is why we play the game
5.15 pm Handshakes all around as Namibia roll over the top team from Group A. PNGs fairytale run comes to an end as a result of Stephan Baards power-packed half-century and Bernard Scholtzs very very slow left-arm spin
flighted on off stump, kept out
Final over of the day. PNG have done reasonably well to last this far. Run-rate races can come into play later on, rememeber
good length on middle, tapped to long-on
back of a length and outside off, defended to point
full which is good, but the line is way down leg
down the track for a whip to long-on
gets a thick outside off as he was going for a dab over third man. Extra bounce ends up helping the batsman
Oopsy, hes got something wrong with his leg... decides to pull out of the over. Concern for him from his team-mates as he limps off the field. JJ Smit to take over
shortish and outside off, goes for a late cut and plays it a little too late
full on off stump, met with a straight bat to long-on
shortish and outside off, slid away behind point
length ball outside off, slog swept away to deep square leg
good length ball just outside off, defended
worked away with the turn through midwicket
good length ball on off stump, kept out
flighted on off stump, driven to long-on
pushed through on middle and leg, worked away behind square leg with just enough of an inside edge
worked it away to deep midwicket
stays back to a flatter ball and cuts to point
almost a stumping there as the captain tosses the ball up and slides it past the flick. Doesnt quite happen. Keeper is too far away down leg to reach the stumps
nudged away past the keepers left
flighted on leg stump, swept to deep square leg
good length ball pushed through down leg, whipped behind square leg
