its a straight ball and Scanlon was just looking to get any part of the bat on the ball. Missed and is hit on the pads, the appeal goes up and as the Umpire raises the finger, Getkate collapses to the floor.
Knights vs NW Warriors, 9th Match at Eglinton, Aug 26 2019 - Ball by Ball Commentary
What is it with Cricket and close finishes? Now this might not have been the Ashes but it came right down to the wire.
After the experienced Porterfield and Thompson fell, you had the feeling that the Knights were going to steamroller over the Warriors tail. Although a very accomplished 48 on debut from Smale, along with some big hitting from Humeat the end.
Meant that the Warriors pushed them all the way to the end. You could feel the tension in the ground as Getkate came in to bowl the final over.
2 runs, that's all it came down to in the end. Two runs.
Gary Wilson used his spinners very well and at the end of the match, his most experienced seamer too.
The Knights take the four points from the game and end up second in the InterPro 50 this year. So well done to them.
The great news is that we won't have long to wait until the next game between these two. Tomorrow morning we all head to Bready for the final game in this years Championship. The great news is all three teams are still in the hunt for that trophy.
Please join from 10:30am tomorrow for Day 1.
Until then, this is Justin saying goodnight from Eglinton.
Hume comes down to have a chat with his partner.
Hume leans back and hits the ball through the covers, down to 3 needed off 2 balls. Scanlon back on strike
Four needed for the win
clips the ball off the pads and it brings Hume back on strike.
defends the ball to mid-off
forget about getting the single, stands tall in the crease and hits the ball hard down the ground. There is a fielder out there but he can only palm the ball over the rope.
So 11 required off the last over, although surely the wrong person is on strike for the Warriors. Somehow Scanlon needs to get one and get Hume back on strike. Is this Scanlon's Leech moment?
Long chat going on between Wilson and his bowler.
clips the ball again through the legside
it's in the air, although its just out of the reach of short extra cover
Close fielders come in now that Scanlon is on strike
slower ball, its full and they can only pick up a single this time as the ball gets hit up to Wilson at long-on
clipped through the legside and they pick up another couple.
flicks the ball down towards long leg, the shout is two straight away and they turn quickly to get it
New ball gets run out, the other ones lost...
well they can if he keeps doing that! Its in the slot and Hume hits the ball high and mighty over the long-off boundary. Brings the target down a little more....
25 needed off the last two overs. Can the Warriors do this?
guides the ball out through point to keep the strike
sliced down to the third man boundary, the fielder can't stop this in the deep. Hume hasn't given this up yet!
slower short ball, goes for the pull. The ball is in the air for a little while before landing safe
cuts the ball out to deep point
that came out all wrong and ends up being a full toss, Hume goes down on one knee and sweeps the ball to the mid-wicket boundary
looks to slog sweep the ball into the legside, misses and its through to the keeper
Wilson having a long chat with the bowler, moving the field around a little
hits the ball through Thompson in the covers and out to the cover sweeper
goes short and Scanlon equals his highest List A score by pulling the ball towards the legside boundary
gives himself some room by backing away as the bowler bowls, hits it up toward mid-off
