he's done it! Bowls another yorker at off stump, McCullum is deep in his crease in anticipation but that is too quick for him to get under. The front foot is out of the way, but the bat hasn't come down quickly enough. It's right off the bottom and straight at long-off
Guj Lions vs MI, 35th match at Rajkot, Apr 29 2017 - Ball by Ball Commentary
00.20 The first super over of the season, another pleasure to watch and bring to you. We'll be back in less than 15 hours for another double-header. See you then.
12.08am Splendid execution. Under a lot of pressure, a lot of frustration after a free-hit, but Bumrah never looked flustered. Mumbai were bailed out by Krunal and Bumrah. Lions fought, fought and scrapped their way in the latter half of their chase. A lot of frustration that Raina bowled four overs for 28 runs, but those overs slowed down the momentum, gave Mumbai the illusion of control with the game drifting along and then they were clutch in the last few overs through Faulkner and Thampi.
Krunal Pandya is the Man of the Match: "I feel I'm an allrounder, to contribute with bat, ball and in the field. The wicket wasn't easy, that you go in and hit big shots straightaway. About making sure we bat till the 20th over. When it was 2 ball, 2 runs, I tried for a big shot, but I had a chat with Malinga that I'll not go for a big shot."
Rohit Sharma, on his birthday: A good birthday present. First time part of the Super Over, something new for us. We got a good start, wicket was always going to get slower. Gujarat stuck to their plans and kept us guessing. Hats off to Krunal to be there, and finish, not finish the game, but hang around. We never had long partnerships going. Previous game doesn't matter too much. We never expected wicket to be so slow. Momentum plays a crucial part in this format. We've got great talent and about playing to our potential."
Raina: Yes, my heart is fine. Very exciting game. Bumrah bowled a very good over. With that reverse swing and accuracy, you can't do much. The wicket was pretty slow and we tried hard. We lost a couple of wickets up front but we bowled well. We came back really strongly, despite losing Tye. Honestly, we didn't put up a good score. All credit to the bowlers for bringing us back. I haven't seen Tye's injury yet."
Parthiv and Rohit are in the bowler's ear immediately. He looks calm. ....and Rohit comes in again before he bowls the last ball. It doesn't look like Bumrah is actually absorbing anything, to his credit
low full toss at off stump, Finch sways across the line and is beaten for pace. The bat turns in his hand and he can only bunt it to extra cover
superb. Superb. This is a fast yorker, full and just outside off. Finch backs away to try and bludgeon this, and is completely beaten
and another. Another slower ball dips under McCullum's bat outside off...but Patel fumbles and gives away a bye
oh whata ball. A slower ball again, dips on McCullum quickly and slides through from under his attempted heave, just missing off stump
Mccullum walks across the stumps, then shimmies back into his stance and has done enough to get Bumrah to wire a high, slower ball, full and wide of the marker outside off
another perfect yorker. This time Finch is inside the line and tries to ramp it over short fine. Gets no bat, cops it on the pad, and takes the run
the perfect yorker but he has overstepped! What a horrible time to do this. He follows Finch down the leg side, nails the yorker and beats him but he's given away a free hit
It looks like Bumrah will bowl. And Finch is ready to come out. Expectedly, McCullum will partner him. Finch taking strike.
Two dot balls for Mumbai, and one wasted ball. Will that be the difference? Faulkner is in coming down to the dugout...without pads on.
Mumbai don't play out their over. He goes full and swings it away from off stump, Buttler swipes across the line, and gets a top edge that goes high in the gully region. Ishan Kishan hangs under it for an eternity at backward point, then follows it and completes a diving catch low in front
Rohit has come out, Buttler will take strike
and he holes out! Faulkner goes for the yorker and just about misses it. It's a low full toss at leg stumpp. Pollard clears the front leg and launches it towards long-on, but he gets it off the toe. It's lobbed for Finch who takes cleanly
Faulkner goes over the wicket
not there. Not to Pollard. It's a length ball at middle stump. Once more, no feet, but the reach is enough. Brings out the arc and lifts it over long-on
offcutter, wide outside off stump. He uses his reach to get to this, without feet, and lifts it off the outside half of the bat to deep extra's right
three men behind square on the off side. Sweeper has moved to deep extra cover
back of a length at off stump, he backs away and slaps this to sweeper cove
