low full toss outside off stump and he carves this off the middle of the bat, past his opposite number at mid-off to seal the win
RCB vs MI, 38th match at Mumbai, May 01 2017 - Ball by Ball Commentary
MI won by 5 wickets (with 1 ball remaining)
7.54pm That's it tonight. Thanks for joining us, and make sure you catch the other game of the double-header today. It starts in six minutes. Good night.
Rohit:Got tight in the end but we always knew the wicket was good and we could get to the last over and finish it off. It was a clinical performance. I know we won in the last over, but I'll take that win. Very important in this format to keep taking wickets and we've been doing it consistently so far. One good thing is that we haven't been complacent. We want to finish games in a clinical manner and we did it today. Personally, it felt good to spend time in the middle. I picked my areas and backed myself to hit in those areas. You get value for your shots at Wankhede and I just wanted to find the gaps. We want to be ruthless in our approach and finish on top of the table. The tournament doesn't end here. We have to stick together and play as a team.

zorrohere: "@cricWatch That's how MI has always played, first year of IPL they lost many matches on last ball. MI have tendency to lose way when they are marching to easy victory. As MI fans we are used to see and expect them pull off wins from tough situations. It is very rare to see MI dominate and win comfortably by huge margin."
Barath : "Yet again, Hardik has remained Not out in a successful MI chase. This would be good learning curve for him before the champions trophy. Looks like, MSD will have a finishing partner :) . "
mr.shubhamdhama: "So...MI becomes the first team to qualify for playoffs this season??" --- Yes, Mumbai is through. Eight wins usually do it.
cricWatch: "MI matches have been the most thrilling this year. Another way of putting this is that, since they have chased most of their matches, their final assault has usually started too late. They are starting really well, but loosing too many wickets in the 7-14 overs. Rohit needs to address this before the playoffs."
7.37pm A comfortable win in the end for the home team. It appeared like RCB might have pulled things back, but it was really Mumbai utilizing their resources and pacing their innings. Rohit in particular, did it nicely, after those two quick wickets of Buttler and Rana. Even the math isn't good for RCB anymore. A feeble finish for them. They are, for all practical purposes, out of the running.
Mid-off is in and there's a short midwicket
close. This is a good length ball outside off. Looks to flay this through the off side on the up, gets an inside edge that misses off stump and trickles through to the keeper's left
low full toss at middle stump, shuffles across the stumps and whips this between long-on and deep midwicket....but they can't come back for the second. Good fielding from Milne, running to his left at deep midwicket
slower short ball at off stump, can't do more than pull this to long-on
full at off stump, driven on the up to long-off
full and well wide, Rohit watches it go after walking at the bowler
slower ball, back of a length outside off. Under edge on the cut goes straight to backward point. They take the single and that is his fifty
back of a length at off stump, cramped for room after shuffling across, pushed to long-off off the back foot
back of a length slower ball outside off stump, gives him the charge and drives on the up to extra cover, where Chahal misfields...but sweeper was backing up
what a shot! Oh he's back in form alright. Everyone knows this is going to be a slower ball, but not everyone can respond like this. Walks well outside off stump, gets down to this good length ball and sweeps him over the square leg boundary
slower ball, good length outside off, slashes hard to sweeper cover
Shailesh: "Choudhary's wide could well be the game-changer here."
slower ball outside off, back of a length, cut to sweeper cover
Aravind from around the wicket
yes. Gives away an extra ball after an impressive over, goes for pace after six slower balls. Drops it short at middle stump and this time there's no hesitation from Hardik. Full blooded arc as he whips this off this hips and over the square leg boundary
He didn't close his first over off after conceding 2 off 5. Once more?
slower ball, well past the wide marker at a length
oh good ball. This bouncer has been impressive today. Climbs in the corridor and Hardik pulls out after shaping to ramp this over short third man
another slower ball, back of a length outside off stump. Mistimed cut allows him to come back for two...and he cops one on the back after making his ground. He's alright though
slower ball, wide outside off stump at a length, gets it off the bottom of the bat as he drives expansively, straight to the sweeper
slower ball, back of a length outside off stump, backs away and cuts this to sweeper cover's left
slower ball, good length at middle stump, pushed to extra cover off the front foot
full at leg stump, pushed to long-on off the front foot
