Queensland were in a spot of bother after a wicket burst squandered a decent reply to Tasmania's first-innings score of 328 at the Bellerive Oval. The Bulls ended the day 231 behind the with six wickets remaining on a weather-interrupted second day.
The Bulls progressed well to 1 for 65 after Ryan Broad fell early to Ben Hilfenhaus. However, the Tigers seized the initiative as they scalped three wickets for 26 runs, reducing the visitors to 4 for 91. Martin Love was trapped in front by Damien Wright, Clinton Perren fell soon after, edging to Tim Paine off Adam Griffith. Wright then returned to bowl Craig Philipson for 12 shortly after tea. Jimmy Maher, the former Australian opener, was unbeaten on 35 with James Hopes before the umpires called off play due to bad light.
Earlier, the Tigers added just 17 to their overnight score, losing their last three wickets in quick succession. Ashley Noffke dismissed Dane Anderson for 20 before Andy Bichel wrapped up the innings to finish with figures of 4 for 103.
