The second day of the North Zone Ranji Trophy clash between Jammu &
Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh was marred by overnight rains, which
allowed for just 22.1 overs during the day, play starting only at 3.45
pm. In the time available, Himachal added 67 runs for the loss of
three wickets to finish on 289/8.
After Himachal resumed at 222/5, the highlight was opener Nischal
Gaur's century which came after a seven and a quarter hour vigil at
the crease. He reached three figures off 319 deliveries, having sent
seventeen of them to the pickets. Two balls later, at 259, he was
trapped leg before on 101 to give J&K skipper Abdul Qayoom his third
scalp. Earlier Qayoom's fellow seamer Surendra Singh had added two
more wickets to his kitty, finishing the day with figures of 4/57. RK
