and that is the end of that! Dala's fourth of his second spell, full and straight, deflecting off the pads to light up the zing bails. Durban's Super Giants are off to Cape Town!
Super Giants vs Super Kings, Qualifier 2 at Johannesburg, SA20, Feb 08 2024 - Match Result
9.45pm And that's a wrap from the Wanderers. Thanks for joining us, see you at Newlands for Saturday's final!
Faf du Plessis: "It was a really good batting performance from them, 100 from the last five was v disappointing, Klaasen has done that all season, incredible knock, took them 20 over par, and the two most consistent teams are into the final. We did really well to come back in the tournament, some great character in the dressing-room, but pound for pound we didn't play to our potential."
Keshav Maharaj: "Klaasen is just picking up where he left off, he hits the ball so cleanly and gave us something to bowl at. Not many hit the ball as consistently, a nightmare to bowl to. We've been true to our processes, our bowling unit was superb, executed the plan and kept it simple. Sunrisers are a strong side, we've just got to get going on the day."
The Player of the Match, unsurprisingly, is Heinrich Klaasen: "At the start they bowled incredibly well, no freebies, had to wait for Immie to come back, he was bowling full. No length to work with in first two overs. Just unlucky he missed a couple! The expectation is there, hopefully my processes keep going for another couple of years. I'm playing the middle phase well at the moment, and try to capitalise on that. We played poorly in the first semi-final against Sunrisers, hopefully we can rectify that."
9.29pm Handshakes all round as JSK's late rally in this competition is sawn off by the tournament's original pace-setters. Durban will meet Sunrisers in the final, which is the fitting end to the competition after their respective efforts in the group stage.
Dala caps the contest with 4 for 38, but this match was won by Heinrich Klaasen's latest fireworks. His preposterous 74 from 30 included the lion's share of two 29-run overs in the final six, after a somewhat ponderous first 14 overs. JSK were even ahead of the rate for much of their chase, but had no firepower to match that contribution, as their 69-run loss rather confirms.
AyBe: "Remarkable that both teams were on pretty much the same score after 10 overs (77/3 va 78/3) - shows the insane impact of Klaasen and also of Mulder"
full toss, attacking the stumps, decent option, cuffed to deep point
steps to leg, can't connect on the slash to the off-side. Another short ball but not quite as violent! A long delay while they check the no-ball on height... yawn... is this really necessary at this late stage?
bouncer, sharp pace, fizzes over the batter's head
massive mow, high into the leg-side, two fielders converge, Klaasen takes the responsibility and falls to the turf with the ball in his grasp. A slower ball from Dala, banged into the middle of the pitch, to end Bracewell's resistance
a dot-ball to finish, this is nearly cooked
shovelled out to the leg side
huge hoist outside off, aiming for Bloemfontein, but can't make contact
wide line on the full toss, toe-ended through deep third for another boundary. That's all JSK can ask for...
New balls please. Kookaburra has flown the nest
slog-swept up over deep midwicket! Like watching Martin Speight in the 1993 NatWest Trophy Final! Steps across to the off-side, and dumps a huge mow onto the top of the sponsor's tent!
fuller length, outside off, beats the inside edge
very full, outside off, yet another wide. That's felt like JSK's main source of runs tonight
a stiff-armed smack across the line to deep square. Dala's figures look better after that over!
has a wipe from back of a length, outside off. No contact
a swing across the line, a wide is given down the leg-side... but there was a sound on that, surely? A review coming up. Might not be bat, but would save the run either way ... close to the glove for sure. Nope, flat line on Snicko... never in doubt, ump!
Hari: "As a cricket fan, I have seen many games turn around but isn't it absurd to take a timeout when everything is done and dusted? On field umpires must be given some sort of control over this. Saves everybody's time." You'd have thought so...
bouncer, sharp, and jabbed off the helmet. Nearly a run-out as they set off for the single to square leg
beats the edge as Burger drags his bat inside the line. Good lifter to the tailender
Hat-trick chance as Nandre Burger walks out to a lost cause...
two in two for Dala! Back of a length, Cook can't line up the defensive push, spliced high in the air, into the off-side, and Dala hunts it down, shooing away his team-mates to snaffle the dolly!
A strategic time-out... perhaps a chance to strategise tonight's night out in Sandton? There's not much else left to brainstorm
swings through the line, straight to mid-on! Dala hits the pitch, just back of a length, Naveen back-pedals to pocket a spliced miscue. It's all but done here
Aditya: "Well, It's been a fun time hoping and praying for JSK. Adios Cricinfo team!" Toodlepip!
back of a length, a firm pull across the line, stiff forearms and solid contact through the gap at midwicket
