Scorecard
Valuable contributions by the middle order helped Northern Districts claw back against Canterbury on the third day at Seddon Park. Nick Horsely, Joseph Yovich and Peter McGlashan led the revival after Northern Districts lost a wicket without adding to their overnight score, stringing together useful partnerships to boost the total, eventually finishing 124 behind Canterbury.
Yovich and Horsely added 62 for the sixth wicket with Horsely dominating the stand with 66 off 136 balls. Yovich then added 88 with McGlashan, pushing the score past 300. However, both were dismissed in the space of four overs, with Yovich completing his half century while McGlashan fell four short of his fifty. Northern Districts were finally dismissed for 319 with seamer Hamish Bennett finishing with figures of 4 for 46.
Canterbury stumbled in their reply, losing two early wickets with the score on four. Todd Astle fell for a pair, edging to McGlashan off Tim Southee and in the fifth over, Shanan Stewart was bowled by Graeme Aldridge.
