he's gone now, easy catch for QDK over his head! Steyn banged one in again and this was around off, Vitori looked for the upper cut but managed an outside edge behind the stumps
Zimbabwe vs South Africa, 3rd Match at Harare, Aug 29 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Presentation time:
Elton Chigumbura: Need to learn to win games. Only thing we need to learn. We are failing to do that despite working hard in the nets. It's about how much you want it but today we didn't show that. We were very happy with 231 and getting them all out but we are failing with the bat. It's about the mindset.
Hashim Amla: We felt 231 was defendable. Huge credit to Tahir and Phangi for the last stand. It was below par after the start we had but we had the bowlers to defend it. Things like that [collapses] happen in the game and the way we reacted to reach 231 and defend it was great. We believed it was defendable. Our seamers set the tone upfront and Phangi bowled very well. We hung in there long enough and got crucial wickets later on to take us home. It's bitter and sweet both. Bitter that we put on 231 but sweet that we defended it. Bowling them out was sweet as well.
Prosper Utseya is the Man of the Match: Happy with the way I bowled but disappointed that we didn't win. Spin department has been our strength and we knew pitch was going to turn. The captain took me off after three overs and later I decided to come around to de Kock and changed my field placings a bit. I was a bit of both - defensive and attacking. The conditions helped a lot to turn the ball.
Zimbabwe have lost another match despite having a great chance today and they are at the bottom of the table. They now face Australia on Sunday and hopefully you all will enjoy our coverage of that match as well. Do join in, till then it's goodbye from Vishal and Devashish, ta ta!
4.40pm So another convincing win for South Africa over Zimbabwe, this one of 61 runs also gives them a bonus point. They were rocked back by Utseya's five-for, including the hat-trick, which kept them down to 231. Zimbabwe still had a steep challenge considering SA's attack and the turn the pitch was offering. Phangiso did pick two important wickets early and the pacers finished it after that. They are on top of the table with nine points now
Aaron Phangiso: I enjoyed the stand with Tahir a lot, have been working very hard and got a couple of guys to bowl to us while batting in the nets. It was one of those slow wickets and we had to pitch the ball in the right spots. Very happy with my two wickets, they are dangerous players which brought us back in the game. My confidence is growing with opportunities and hopefully I'll get more of those.
No award for Zimbabwe but here's Oscar: "Great Work ZIm"
another short ball - another pull - and another one falls safe! Vitori pulled this one from leg stump towards the edge of the circle past mid-on and Phangiso ran to his left and jumped like Boris Becker but couldn't get there. Excellent effort, nevertheless
short ball on leg, miscued pull falls well short of short midwicket
another swing and a miss, this was on length outside off, he tried another heave and missed
in the block hole well outside off, Chatara chases and misses
short on the leg stump, Vitori gets off the mark with a pull which produces a leading edge towards square leg
back to the short ball - this one's going towards leg and it's helped with a pull to deep fine leg
much fuller around off and Chatara plays a cross-batted heave over the infield on the leg side to collect a boundary
short balls continue - Chatara misses the pull and takes one near the shoulder as he played it early
makes room to slap it away but gets a bottom edge from the length delivery on the off side
nasty short ball as it goes off the pad and thigh guard behind square on the leg side
One wicket left now, Brian Vitori is the new man
full toss again and this one gets a wicket! Steyn's being trying a yorker and this full toss was on the pads, Chigumbura flicked it away to the leg side but found the deep backward square leg fielder where Rossouw took a catch running in
another one, this also goes for four! Short ball on the stumps, he makes a bit of room and tonks it back past the bowler
falls short of mid-off! the attempted yorker turned into a low full toss on off which was smashed down the ground and fell just short of Miller
it's on target on the stumps but he's not scared to put it away in the air over the in-field which he clears easily and gets a one-bounce boundary to the long-on area for a four
A wide and two wickets from that over. The second half of the over looks pretty uneventful in retrospect
rolls his fingers over this one as it lands in the block hole on off, Chatara blocks it back
fuller this time outside off and he defends it towards cover point
another shot ball rises too much! It was short of length and cut in again and hit the batsman's Chest after the bounce surprised him
on length outside off and he lets it go
McLaren on a hat-trick this time!
short ball gets the wicket this time, McLaren gets two in two! The ball jabbed in sharply and rose after pitching, Nyumbu dropped his arms but the ball touched something before being pouched by QDK and the finger went up. Replays suggest the ball touched the arm guard, not the glove. Nyumbu is unhappy
Offspinner for offspinner, it's John Nyumbu now
