Ten years later
On December 26, 2004, the South Asian tsunami devastated several coastal towns and villages in Sri Lanka. Surrey County Cricket Club launched two charity projects in Maggona (near Galle), one of which was the Surrey Cricket Village, where houses were rebuilt using aid money

In June 2005, two composite teams, an Asia XI, led by Rahul Dravid, and an International XI, led by Brian Lara, played a charity match at The Oval to raise funds for tsunami relief•PA Photos
