The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) has announced that Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy Head Coach Bennett King will remain in that position rather than continue talks about possibly coaching the West Indies cricket team.
The West Indies coaching role becomes available on 1 July and King has previously advised the ACB that he has spoken to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) about the position.
King, a former coach of the Queensland Bulls cricket team before taking his Academy role in 2002, said he had discussed the West Indies role with its Board and was grateful for their positive interest in him having a possible role.
However, he was keen to remain involved with Australian player development, planned to continue his contract with the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy and had advised the WICB and the ACB of his thinking this week.
