India captain Rahul Dravid has moved up to third place in the LG ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen after his side's nine-wicket win over England in Mohali.
Dravid's double of 95 and 42 not out, which played a key role in his side's success, has lifted him three spots and now only Australia's Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis of South Africa are ahead of him in those rankings.
Virender Sehwag, whose unbeaten 76 secured his side's victory on Monday, remains unchanged in 10th place but Sachin Tendulkar has slipped three spots to 15th after his solitary innings of 4 during the Mohali Test.
Anil Kumble's 9-146 (including his 500th Test wicket) has eased him up one place to 12th and he is now the leading Indian bowler in the rankings, overtaking Irfan Pathan.
The left-arm fast bowler has slipped two positions to 13th but he has strengthened his hold on fourth spot in the all-rounder's list and is now within striking distance of South Africa's Shaun Pollock.
The news is not quite so good for England. Their defeat means they have to win the final Test to retain their position as the second-placed side in the LG ICC Test Championship table and anything less than victory will see India overtake them.
On top of that, their players are also under pressure in the player rankings. A twin failure for Andrew Strauss in Mohali has seen him slip four places to 21st in the batting list and that means England's only representative in the top 20 is the unavailable Marcus Trescothick, in ninth position.
Kevin Pietersen, who scored a first-innings half-century in the Test loss, holds firm in 24th spot, while acting captain Andrew Flintoff is up six places to 26th after a double of 70 and 51 in a losing cause. Ian Bell is up seven spots to 44th, his highest career ranking to date.
Flintoff is also on his way up in the bowling list, rising one place to seventh position in the LG ICC Player Rankings for bowlers after taking four wickets in Mohali, and although he remains in second spot in the all-rounder's table, he has also picked up rating points in his quest to overhaul Jacques Kallis.
Matthew Hoggard is still England's leading bowler, unchanged in fourth spot, while England's other bowlers in the top 20 of the LG ICC Player Rankings are Stephen Harmison (also unchanged, in 14th) and the injured Simon Jones, down two places to joint 20th.
Shane Bond's seven wickets for New Zealand against the West Indies in Auckland, including a decisive 5-69 in the final innings of the match, have catapulted him up to joint fifth, alongside South Africa's Makhaya Ntini, in the LG ICC Player Rankings for bowlers.
Bond moves up seven places, has his best-ever haul of rating points and, coupled with his third place in the ODI listings, he appears to be truly established as one of the leading bowlers in the world.
Bond has been joined in the Test list's top 20 by team-mate Daniel Vettori, who has moved up five places to 17th and has also consolidated his fifth position in the all-rounder's list. Chris Martin holds firm at 24th spot among the bowlers but James Franklin drops six places to 35th after taking just one wicket in Auckland.
One player who has sneaked back into the top 50 bowlers is Nathan Astle, whose two top-order wickets started New Zealand's surge to victory in the Test. He now lies in 49th position, up three places, but has dropped three spots in the batting list, to 28th.
Stephen Fleming remains New Zealand's highest-placed player in the LG ICC Player Rankings for batsmen, in 22nd position, but Scott Styris has moved up five spots to 37th following his first innings hundred.
Brian Lara is down three places in that batting list to sixth place but he remains the highest-ranked West Indies player. His captain, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, slips five spots to 16th, but Chris Gayle moves up five positions to 23rd.
Gayle is also on the way up in the bowling and all-rounder lists. His six wickets in the Test have lifted him six places to 40th and he is now the highest-ranked West Indies bowler in that table among players on the tour while he is up four spots to seventh among the all-rounders.
Just behind Gayle in the bowling list are Fidel Edwards (41st) and Dwayne Bravo (44th), although three players not on the trip - Corey Collymore (joint 20th), Pedro Collins (27th) and Jermaine Lawson (33rd) - are above that trio.
In Bangladesh Sri Lanka's 2-0 clean sweep of the Test series has seen them gain one rating point on the LG ICC Test Championship table and they have now closed the gap to sixth-placed South Africa to just two points.
Spinner Muttiah Muralidaran's 16 wickets in the series have seen him retain a narrow lead over Glenn McGrath as the leading bowler in the LG ICC Player Rankings but Chaminda Vaas, who rested and missed the series, has slipped four spots to tenth position.
Sri Lanka's other bowlers in the top 50 are Dilhara Fernando (29th, up five places), Lasith Malinga (32nd, up four places), Sanath Jayasuriya (down one spot to 36th) and Rangana Herath, not on the trip and 45th in the list.
With the bat, Sri Lanka's acting captain for the series, Mahela Jayawardene, has moved up two places to 11th while Kumar Sangakkara is unchanged in 19th position. The leading run-scorer in the series, Upul Thuranga (297 runs in four innings), is up 61 places to joint 45th alongside Brendon McCullum.
Bangladesh's leading batsman in the list is captain Habibul Bashar, up seven spots to 32nd, while they have two players among the top 40 bowlers - Mohammed Rafique (34th) and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (37th).
