Audio clips of captains Ricky Ponting and Mahela Jayawardene looking ahead to the ICC Cricket World Cup final at Kensington Oval are now available for free download from the ICC CWC Media Information Service (MIS), www.icc-cricket.com/mis.
Ponting and Jayawardene explain what last-minute preparations their teams have been going through and how they are looking forward to the big event.
Also available for audio download from the MIS, retiring fast bowler Glenn McGrath talks about how he is looking forward to taking a break from the game and also reflects on the players he has most respected during his time at the top of world cricket.
There are audio clips of Sri Lankan players Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas who talk about their memories of the ICC Cricket World Cup final of 1996 and what effect that victory had on their country and the nature of Sri Lankan cricket.
After the match, there will be audio clips from key players available to download free of charge from the MIS. At this stage that is likely to include both captains, the man of the match and player of the tournament.
Access to the site is password protected and those media requiring a password can obtain one from Robin Abrahams at robin.abrahams@wisdengroup.com.
The MIS also includes post-match written quotes from all matches and, together with the tournament's official website, www.cricketworldcup.com the two sites form a comprehensive online resource for media and the public to get all the latest news and views from this ninth ICC Cricket World Cup.
Also, the latest edition of the ICC's Media Notes publication providing the media with a full review of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 so far and a preview for the final, is now available online and at the ground.
The document, which can be downloaded free of charge from the home page of www.icc-cricket.com or the tournament MIS, is also available in hard copy at Kensington Oval today and on match day for members of the media.
Included in this edition:
  • Message from ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed
  • Highlights of the action on the field so far
  • Preview of the final and teams profiles
  • Tournament results, records and statistics
  • News on the latest LG ICC Player Rankings and ODI Championship
  • Details of the ICC's partnership with UNAIDS, UNICEF and the Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership on HIV/AIDS.
  • The document also includes contact details for the media managers or contacts of all 16 teams that have taken part in the tournament.
If members of the media have feedback on the publication and what they would like included in future editions, comments should be sent to the ICC media team.
