Rod Bransgrove, Hampshire's high-profile chairman, has told the BBC that the country is considering changing their name in Twenty20 cricket.
The side are currently known as Hampshire Hawks in all limited-overs tournaments, but Bransgrove said they might go one step further.
"I would not like to drop all the tradition of English cricket in the more conventional forms of the game, but I see Twenty20 as a sort of franchise so I wouldn't rule anything out. It has brought a new audience so we treat it slightly differently."
Nicknames have been prevalent for more than a decade in one-day formats, although they have been more popular with marketing men than supporters.
