ICC Officials visit Hong Kong to inspect grounds ahead of ICC WCL Division 3 decision

Officials from the ICC will visit Hong Kong this week to inspect the HKSAR's main cricket grounds ahead of a decision regarding the hosting of the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 tournament in January 2011.

International Cricket Council (ICC) Development Manager, Matthew Kennedy will land in Hong Kong tonight on a two day visit accompanied by fellow ICC member Tim Anderson, Programs Manager for the Pepsi ICC Development Programme.
The reason for the visit is to inspect grounds to host an ICC World Cricket League event, possibly division 3 which will include the Hong Kong National Team. It is likely the event will be hosted by the Hong Kong Cricket Association in January 2011 and use the facilities of Kowloon Cricket Club, Hong Kong Cricket Club and Mission Road. The new Cricket stadium in Guangzhou is also a prospect, the two key ICC officials will be joined by HKCA General Manager, Danny Lai and National Coach Charlie Burke.
Matthew Kennedy and Tim Anderson are both on their way to the development committee conference which will be held in Jakarta this weekend. The stop over in Hong Kong highlights the interest the ICC has in Hong Kong Cricket and in particular hosting such a important event.
