Although 46 overs were lost because of heavy rain overnight and during the morning, there was still plenty of action on the second day of Glamorgan`s match against India A at Swansea as eight wickets fell in conditions which assisted the swing and seam bowlers.
When play began at 3.30pm, India A`s dramatic collapse continued as Darren Thomas took 4-4 in 12 balls as the tourists slumped from their overnight score of 149-6 to 165 all out. Thomas began by bowling Parthiv Patel in the 5th over of the day, before taking three wickets in his next over.
With his third delivery he yorked Amit Mishra, then the next batsman, Amit Bhandari leg-glanced Thomas for three, before Thomas trapped Lakshmipathy Balaji leg before with the fifth ball of the over, and then bowled Aavishkar Salvi with the final delivery. Having been 142-2 the previous afternoon, it meant that the last eight Indian wickets had fallen for just 23 runs in 13 overs.
Jon Hughes survived two chances in the six overs before tea, as Amit Mishra spilled a difficult catch in the gulley, and then Amit Bhandari dropped a low catch at first slip. The young opener then clipped Balaji off his legs for two boundaries, but in the third over after the interval, Hughes was caught in the gulley by Vijay Bharadwaj off Salvi for 15.
Bhandari replaced Balaji at the Mumbles Road End and in his third over he had Ian Thomas caught at second slip by the tourist`s captain Shiv Sunder Das. Bhandari claimed his second wicket in his next over as Powell edged a rising delivery to Bharadwaj in the gulley with Glamorgan on 35-3.
Dan Cherry continued to play watchfully as the ball continued to swing, as well as occasionally lift from a length. With Adrian Shaw dropping anchor at the other end, the pair had taken the score to 55 when Cherry was bowled by Balaji.
Shaw then found a useful ally in Mark Wallace, and the two wicket-keepers adopted a positive approach, adding a further 49, as Glamorgan finished the day on 104-4, 61 runs behind the tourists.
