Only two players with Test experience, fast bowlers Dodda
Ganesh and Harvinder Singh, are included in the India A team
to tour the West Indies November 13-21.
Ganesh has had four Tests, two each against South Africa in
South Africa and against the West Indies in the Caribbean in
1997. Singh played two against Australia in India last year.
The tour comprises two four-day Tests and three One-Day
matches against West Indies A and two first-class matches
against combined teams. It reciprocates a visit by West Indies
A to India last year.
Batsman Hrishikesh Kanitkar is again captain, as he was in the
series in India when West Indies A won both representative
matches and the One-Day series 2-1. Gagan Khoda will be his
deputy.
Teenaged fast bowler Laxmi Ratan Shukla and batsman Jacob
Martin, who played against the West Indies in recent One-Day
Internationals in Singapore and Toronto, are in the team. But
there is no place for batsman Amol Muzumdar who recently led
India A against the touring New Zealanders.
The team:
Hrishikesh Kanitkar (captain), Gagan Khoda (vice-captain),
J.Arun Kumar, Pravanjan Mullick, Jacob Martin, Devendra
Bundela, Md Kaif, Sameer Dighe (wicketkeeper), Rahul Sanghvi,
S.Sriram, Dodda Ganesh, Harvinder Singh Sodhi, Laxmi Ratan
Shukla, Amit Bhandari and Murali Karthik.
