India to take on Sri Lanka in Coca Cola Cup opener
India are slated to take on Sri Lanka in the opening match of the Coca
Cola Cup Trophy Triangular tournament scheduled to be held in Sharjah
from October 20 to 29. The third team to feature in the tourney is
Zimbabwe.
The Press Trust of India (PTI) reported on Thursday that the three
teams will meet each other twice in a round robin format with the top
two teams meeting in the finals on October 29. The matches are to be
held under flood lights with play starting at 2.30 PM local time.
The Schedule:
October 20: India v Sri Lanka. October 21: Zimbabwe v Sri Lanka.
October 22: Zimbabwe v India. October 23 and 24: Rest days. October
25: Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe. October 26: India v Zimbabwe. October 27:
India v Sri Lanka. October 28: Rest day. October 29: Final.
Sourav Ganguly helps Lancashire to a amass 574 for 5
Indian captain Sourav Ganguly scored a sedate 87 while playing the
second fiddle during two crucial partnerships with John Crawley and
then with Neil Fairbrother as Lancashire declared at 574 for 5 on the
third day of PPP Healthcare County Championship Division One match
against Leicestershire at Grace Road in Leicester on Thursday.
Resuming at the score of 334 for 3, Ganguly lost Crawley at the score
of 352 after a well compiled 139 off 278 balls which included 18 hits
to the fence. This brought Fairbrother to the crease and along with
him, Ganguly added 82 runs for the fifth wicket. Ganguly fell leg
before to James Ormond after a 176 ball essay which saw 13 hits to the
ropes. Then Fairbrother reached his century in the company of Warren
Hegg before declaration.
In the other match at St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury saw Rahul
Dravid turn his arm over for five unsuccessful overs as Hampshire
require another 62 runs for a well deserved win over Kent with 4
wickets still at hand.
Sadanand Vishwanath to coach in Guwahati CCC
Former Indian wicket keeper Sadanand Vishwanath is slated to arrive in
Guwahati on September 2 in connection with a coaching camp organised
by Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre. The camp has been organised for
the advanced trainees in the centre.
The camp is scheduled to held at the Nehru Stadium from September 4 to
25. The camp was originally scheduled to be held from September 6.
Soon after his arrival in Guwahati, Vishwanath will attend the
`Abhiruchi Sports Day', on September 3 and as the chief guest he will
lead the mass run which has been organised for the occasion.
