Irfan Ahmed retains Hong Kong Cricketer of the Year title

Twenty year-old Irfan Ahmed retained his title as the best cricketer in Hong Kong when he was awarded the coveted Hong Kong Cricketer of the Year trophy at the 2009-10 HKCA Annual Awards Dinner held at Hong Kong Cricket Club on 19th June 2010.

Twenty year-old Irfan Ahmed retained his title as the best cricketer in Hong Kong when he was awarded the coveted Hong Kong Cricketer of the Year trophy at the 2009-10 HKCA Annual Awards Dinner held at Hong Kong Cricket Club on 19th June 2010.
Irfan, who is currently playing cricket in England, had an exceptional year with the bat, scoring 1,038 runs at an average of 129.75 for his club side LSW JKN in the HKCA Sunday League and winning the Ben Hollioake Trophy for the Player of the Tournament at the 2009 Hong Kong Sixes. He also represented Hong Kong at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and at the ACC Trophy Elite 2010 played in Kuwait.
Irfan's team-mate Nizakat Khan received the Young Cricketer of the Year award while Kinchit Shah won the Dragon of the Year award and Waqas Khan was named Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year.
On the women's side, Connie Wong from Lamma CC received the Woman Cricketer of the Year honour while the Young Female Cricketer of the Year went to Ishitaa Gidwani and Jaswinder Kaur won the Schoolgirl Cricketer of the Year. Yasmin Daswani was named the Most Improved Female Cricketer of the Year.
Anoop Gidwani received the Jangu Vachha Award for the Best Cricket Umpire in Hong Kong.
Travis Pittman and Adrian Lee received Special Awards from the HKCA for their Services to Cricket while Ramesh Maldar and Jayesh Patel were presented with HKCA Life Member awards.
