League merger quashed

Any possibility of a merger between the EW Cartons Lancashire League and the Central Lancashire League was, as expected, quashed last night.

All 14 Lancashire League clubs voted on whether to have discussions with the CLL at their monthly meeting and the result was a resounding 'No'.

League secretary Lionel Cooke said: "Only three clubs showed any interest in having discussions."

The Lancashire League were responding to a letter from the CLL about amalgamation but the subject is now off the agenda.
