Morgan receives official reprimand for Code of Conduct breach

Ireland's Eoin Morgan has received an official reprimand and been warned about his future conduct after breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during his country's ODI against Scotland on Saturday.

Morgan pleaded guilty to the use of obscene language as he walked off after being dismissed, run out for 99, in a hearing in front of Emirates Elite ICC match referee Roshan Mahanama following the match in Ayr.

Morgan was found to have breached 1.4 of the ICC Code which relates to "Using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and/or the making of an obscene gesture."

Commenting on his decision, Roshan Mahanama said: "It is possible to excuse disappointment when a player is dismissed, especially when he is run out for 99, but shouting an obscenity while leaving the field is not acceptable.

"Eoin Morgan is an up-and-coming international and a first-class player and he should be setting an example to all those who follow the game.

"I am pleased to say he apologised for the incident but he must learn to show more restraint in future, whatever the situation."

The charge was brought by umpires Tony Hill and Paul Baldwin.

Roshan Mahanama reached his conclusion after a hearing attended by Morgan, Ireland team manager Roy Torrens, captain Trent Johnston and the two on-field umpires.
