News Roundup, 10 May 94
* Lara scores third consecutive century for Warwicks. This time
in the second inn - 120 n.o against Leics
* Imran retierates that he did merely what all the bowlers do and
his intention is not to cheat. The match had no bearing to the
tourney and he was young and bored...so he asked for the cap.
The twelfth man (forgot his name) has said that he brought in
the cap, thinking that its to pick some stone off Imran'm
shoes...
* World-tel and Doordarshan to colloborate on Worldcup telecast.
Agreement has been reached and so the WC is not in jeopardy.
The details of agreement not known...
* Border keeps ACB guessing about whether he wants to continue or
retire. Earlier on his return from SA he stated that he would
make a decision about retirement. "If you dont hear anything from
me in a month, then you can take it as I will continue" - he told
the press. Border would very much like to defend the ashes
later this year, but he is not keen on touring Pak and SL. ACB,
it seems, would not agree to that and would like border to commit on both (shades of Illy and Gooch). ACB now has put off the
decision to name the capt and the team for Pak tour to give AB
more time to decide...(IMO, Miandad and Kapil should have
been/should be treated this way by their boards).
* Crowe scores an unbeaten century for NZ after Howarth lashes
out at the NZ batsmen calling their batting display in the I
inn of the tour match as inept...
