Lara fails to equal world record
West Indian Brian Lara failed to equal the world record of six
consecutive First Class centuries when he was dismissed to 26 at
Lord's. Lara, playing for Warwickshire against Middlesex, was
caught behind 35 minutes before lunch on the second day of the
four-day match. The first day on Thursday was washed out. The
record is jointly held by England's C.B.Fry, Australia's Sir
Donald Bradman, and the South African Mike Procter. Lara had not
previously been out for less than three figures since his world
record of 375 against England last month.
