Paul Nixon has resigned as Leicestershire's club captain after believing he was left out of decision-making.
Nixon had already handed over the Twenty20 captaincy to Boeta Dippanaar earlier this season and then passed the wicket-keeping duties to Tom New in the Championship. He has only played four four-day matches with an average of 21.83 and isn't part of the current one-day set-up.
"There are a lot of things I have not agreed with," Nixon told the Leicester Mercury. "I respect the club, they have got the big picture to look at.
"But there have been many decisions that have been taken that I feel I have had no input into. As club captain, I feel I should be involved in the decision-making process. They have been taken out of my hands so it's pointless me being captain."
Nixon, 38, has not played Championship cricket since June, but still has one year of his contract left and wants to see it out. "I still want to play first-team cricket for Leicestershire, so I was disappointed to be left out," he said
David Smith, Leicestershire's chief executive, said: "Nico [Nixon] is a player coming to the end of his career. I have been there. I wouldn't expect any player to be happy when they are left out.
"Nico is on the outside having been on the inside. He has been frustrated. We feel we are selecting the best team, Nico doesn't agree."
