Jacob Oram and Joginder Sharma have been omitted from the Chennai Super Kings squad for the Champions League due to injury concerns.
VB Chandrasekhar, director cricket operations of Chennai, confirmed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will lead the side and Chennai will have the services of the overseas players like Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Muttiah Muralitharan, Makhaya Ntini and Albie Morkel.
Hussey chose to play for Chennai instead of his Australian state side Western Australia, which has also qualified for the Champions League that starts on December 3.
Similarly, Albie has opted to play for the IPL franchise instead of Titans . However, their domestic teams will be compensated US$ 200,000 by the Champions League governing council.
Stephen Fleming will coach Chennai as the IPL team did not renew their contract with Kepler Wessels. The seamer Sudeep Tyagi, who missed the inaugural season due to a back injury, has been included. Joginder misses out due to a heel injury. Oram was also ruled out of New Zealand's tour of Australia with a back injury.
