PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA 1991-92

At Rawalpindi, January 19

15-Apr-1993
At Rawalpindi, January 19. Pakistan won by 117 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankans were pulverised at Rawalpindi's newly built stadium as the Pakistanis ran up a massive total of 271 for four at almost 6.8 runs an over and went on to take the series 4-1. After Ramiz Raja's cheap dismissal, the second-wicket stand realised 204 runs. Inzamam-ul-Haq hit his second consecutive hundred, his 117 coming off 104 deliveries, with 13 boundaries, while Salim Malik took 102 off 106 balls, with five fours. Javed Miandad's first run was his 6,000th in his 185th one-day international. Sri Lanka had little chance, and succumbed to the nagging Pakistan attack for 154 runs in the 39th over. The day was marred by crowd interruptions after the ground authorities failed to manage the entry gates properly. Play was held up for nearly 30 minutes as the police attempted to control spectators with baton charges and tear gas.
Man of the Match: Inzamam-ul-Haq.
