Five former Sri Lanka cricketers including three past and present captains are among 18 candidates currently following the Sri Lanka Cricket Board`s Level II diploma cricket coaching course at the Cricket Board headquarters.
The five-day course which began on Wednesday, will afford the candidates an opportunity to gain advanced knowledge in coaching.
Former Sri Lanka cricketer Ranjit Fernando is the course director and the Cricket Board`s director of coaching, Malcolm Perera, the course coordinator.
Australians Dav Whatmore, John Harmer, Alex Kountouri and Richard Walsh form the panel of lecturers with Fernando and Perera.
The 18 applicants following the course are: Anura Tennekoon, Bandula Warnapura, Arjuna Ranatunga, Asoka de Silva, Brendon Kuruppu, Jayantha Seneviratne, Rumesh Ratnayake, Roy Dias, U. S. C. Perera, Ananda Dissanayake, Chitral Mendis, M. T. Ariyawardena, H. W. Ranasinghe, Lasantha Kaggodarachchi, Nishantha Hennayake, Neil S. Rajapakse, Sisira Handunge, S. V. S. Imbuldeniya.
